Help Requested- Trackman Competitors/ Alternatives

Hi, I thought this would be the best place to post this. If not, apologies and feel free to move mods.

 

I am taking a computer course, and have to give a Power Point on emerging technology. I've chosen Trackman/ launch monitors, since computational sprinting, Linux for Android phones, dark silicon, and Blue Waters type stuff don't exactly light my fire.

 

I am asking if anyone here could offer a bit of help, without exerting any effort on their part. I'm looking for some Trackman alternatives. I'm familiar with the GC2 & Flightscope, as well as some more affordable personal options from the SkyTrack to Earnest Golf and Voice Caddy.

 

-Are there any other mainstream brands/ products I should look into?

-Are there any Android/ iPhone apps that can do any of these features, on smaller level, beyond filming a swing (pay or free)?

-If it's not too much trouble, can anyone point me to some good articles to read on the subject/ good Google search topics? Especially on the history of the technology, the history of Trackman, and where the technology could go moving forward?

-I'd especially be interested in reading about how far off the technology is from being accessible/ affordable to the everyday golfer, while being as accurate and reliable as Trackman, if anyone has come across some useful reading on this subject.

 

I am really not asking anyone to do work for me, just a quick suggestion from someone who has been educated on these type things would really help start me in the right direction. I've done some Googling around, and have gotten some useful articles, but gotten a lot more copied and pasted articles that repeat the exact same things already reported upon. To be honest, most of what I'm finding is links to threads here and other website like GolfWRX (Sandtrap, MGS, THP, etc.), and some articles touching on Trackman from a business perspective rather than a technological one.

You listed all of the options. GC2 (GC4 being released shortly) and Flightscope being the main competitors currently. Skytrak continues to evolve and the ES16 has some work to do, but has potential.
