So with lofts getting stronger and stronger, should you change the club selection on trackman?

Say I were to hit the new m2 irons where the 7i is at 28.5 which is normally a strong 6 or weak 5. What would you set trackman to? 5, 6 or 7i? To me 6 iron makes the most sense but Im far from sure about this

If you are asking about settings like that(is they relate to settings for numbers), then you are not using an actual Trackman launch monitor....you are using something else. Not all launch monitors are a Trackman. With that being said, not all launch monitors are accurate nor do they all measure the same info...many calculate or just broadcast false numbers that don't mean anything.

Club selection on Trackman serves one purpose only, to get the name of what club is was on the report, it makes no difference what so ever to "settings" if we talk Trakman who is a trademark and the benchmark for Launch monitors.

 

The only "settings" there is on a Trackman, is either to let it measure all "as it is", or let it convert those numbers using a "normalizing" function who takes wind and temperature out of the equation.

 

We can also let it convert output numbers from one KNOWN golf ball to another KNOWN golf ball from the built in database, but other options than that dont exist, so they cant be manipulated to show "better numbers" for "better sale of equipment" like some LMs out there can.

 

That means you dont have to tell what club you are hitting, output numbers are measured as they are even without that

The club selection doesn't matter regarding what Trackman measures/reports for any given shot. However if you use the shot optimizer the club selection may make a slight difference in the ranges provided based on the loft Trackman has defined for each club.

 

The only "settings" that a user can define relate to environment (altitude, temperature, pressure, etc.) which will only impact normalized data.
