As one who has been up close to most of the pga tour, and walked off countless drives & 3wds, your stats are way out of date.   Have been on the PGA ShotLink, laser tracking system since has exist

I rarely hit my 3 wood off the deck. I can carry my hybrid 240-250, and if I have longer than 265 in, I might as well layup to 80-60 yards than going for it. Off the tee my 3 wood carries 260-270

I've seen alot of articles where pros hit their 3w 240-270. Is this off the tee or deck? How far can you reach? I am sitting at 215-220. I don't swing for the fences and sometimes give up yards for more accuracy if needed.

I suspect some of the responses on here may depress you. To help you out - I hit about 210-220. The better players can get it out further, much further, but why does it matter what other people hit? Some will always be longer, some shorter and some similar to yourself. The score at the end matters to most, not how you go there

215ish carry with the Stage 2 fairway when I have it in the bag. Maybe a bit more off the tee as I am usually around 235 total off the tee box.

I agree. Doesn't really matter how far you hit it. Course management is far more important to scoring well. I hit my 3 wood around 245 yards off the deck on average so I do go for most par 5's in two but that's only because I trust my short game to get up and down if I'm short or miss left or right. If I see a lot of trouble around the green and my 3 wood isn't on that day, I'll lay up to a comfortable full shot distance. Smarter is always better. Play to your strengths.

I honestly don't expect much more than 230 total off the deck with a 3wood. Off the tee, I might get 240 or 250 total with a well struck shot.

I hit 3wood off the tee if I need to keep the ball from going over 250 yards or if there's a strong tailwind that brings previously unreachable hazards into play with the driver.

If I'm hitting 3wood off the deck, which is rare, I probably have screwed up the prior shot, or I still have 250+ to the front of the green with no hazards that need to be avoided.

Off the deck usually carry 250 with a straight ball or draw, 240 with a 10 yard fade. Much more consistent playing the fade and can get it to land softer which is helpful with elevated greens. I usually only hit second shot with 3 wood if there's no trouble near the green - not worth the risk otherwise. Off the tee I try to hit a straight ball and carry about 255-260 on a good strike. Love my xr16.

I would imagine tour pros probably give the distance based upon whichever shot they hit more often, but my guess is that they wouldn't generally vary more than 10 yards or so either way.

Stock distance for my 4 wood (which is practically a 3 wood) is around 240 yards, whether from the tee or the turf. When I hit it off the tee box I usually either don't use a tee (if the grass is right) or tee it up very low such that it isn't much different from going tee-less. Of course, like any amateur, my literal "average" distance with the 4w would be lower due to poor shots being factored in.

First of all, I NEVER hit a FW off a tee, period. Tee box, fairway, rough, sand all are played the same. That being said.....My 3w SS comes in around 105 mph and I can get about 235 carry out of my 13* on clean contact. If I bump the loft up to 16*, it ends up being about 220. My 20* FW (SS 102) gives me 200-210 depending on surface hardness. I practice my FWs A LOT, and have no reservations about playing them off the deck. Confidence is your friend!

If I am hitting a shallow faced 3 wood the difference is not that great between a tee ball and off the deck. I am currently looking to replace my XR 16 with the stock Fuji 565 because it goes too high with too much spin even off the deck. I might get a Callaway 816 3 wood because they're less expensive now and I can get a preowned one for a great price. Or, I can get an Epic with a trade of my XR 16. The key for me is to get the launch and spin lower. The trade off is forgiveness. I carry my driver under normal conditions approximately 245. I hit my 3 wood about 20 yards less, but with much less roll. For me to reach a 500 yd par 5 would take two perfect hits.

Just for reference Rory hit his 3W 390 yards in his last tournament....yes it was slightly downhill with a breeze but he was 40 yards past the others in his group who took driver.

I don't carry a 3 wood anymore. My 5 wood which gets me a solid 230-235 from from tee - about 220-225 from the deck. I got about the same with 3 wood so a couple of years ago I eliminated it from the bag.

My 3HL (4w) is good from about 250-260 out off the deck. Sometimes more, sometimes less, and I usually err on the side of being short rather than going long. I've got no idea on carry distance as all my numbers are from the course and there aren't a lot of opportunities to measure carry precisely. Off the tee it's probably in the 260 range total.

I'll be that guy... I have witnesses locally who have seen me hit a 13.5* 917F2 299yds uphill from a flyer lie out of the rough. This is not a joke and not a passive brag. I average 265-280 off the tee with it. On average I don't try to hit it more than 270, but will muscle up on it when needed.
