Really?, that's funny, which ones are they?, I have been looking as some as well...

 

The ones with the 8 iron that has the browning on the leading edge. What sucks is the rest of the irons are in really good shape but I had a small ding on the leading edge. My club guy smoothed it down and wore off the finish just on the leading edge. The rest of the head is in great shape.

 

What's your eBay name?, I've looked but cannot find the specific one with the 8i damage...

Do you care about conforming grooves? If you do, the Bridgestones are out.

 

If you don't, they are a great set, as would be TM 300s or RAC cb irons.

 

Mizunos are always a good option, but you have to watch for offset, especially the Reverse Offset Japanese irons.

 

Personally, I've always found better options than Titleist forgings. They are always firmer/clickier than most.

There are tons of player's forged CB for your budget, if you disregard the 2010 groove rule, there are even more options out there....me personally wouldn't mind getting a set of Ben Hogan Apex Pluses or the TM forged 300, RAC Forged (especially if they're forged by Miura) or the 2005 Forged TP.

Callaway Razr X Forged very soft, accurate clubs. Endo forged 1020.

 

Had a set a few years ago, sold them for some dumb reason. [G25 epic thread] lol

 

I still have the 50 degree gap wedge and it is amazing, i have been looking for a replacement set of these for a few months.

 

Ordering from USA ebay means currency exchange shipping etc.

 

Last night i found a set in Canada for $150 bucks. Very happy.

 

These irons seem to make Mr 58 {Jim Furyk] very happy as well.

Taylormade RAC MB TP:

 

They are CB forgiving and MB in feel.

 

Solid players' club w/decent performance all around on thin and toe strikes and can be bought at $300 for a nice set.

I just bought a 4-pw of MP-32's with Project X 6.0's for $90 shipped because 3 of the short irons had minimal browning - full disclaimer, given that I'm coming from Rsi1's I'm guessing I probably won't be able to hit them, but for $90 I can guarantee I'm gonna have a ton of fun on the range finding out.

Yep. I play non forged cb's but am awaiting delivery of some mp32's. Dont really have the game for them but i regret selling a set years ago and now they are coming back. Who cares if they kick my butt, i'll be having fun with some super sessy irons when the itch needs scratchin.

I've always had a soft spot for the Bridgestone j36 cbs. They are beautiful and you should be able to find a set well below your budget. I think a set of the pocket cavities was my first purchase on here.

I don't think you need to go much more than 6-7 years old in that price range... original, 710, or 712 AP2 can pretty easily be had, as can 710 CB or even 712 CB. You can even build a set of brand new Adams XTD Forged in that price range if you're either frugal with shafts (something like TT Lite XL) or go with pulls of your preferred shafts.

 

You're also not far off from a new set of MP-64s from Ksouth9 on eBay... MP-15 come along through him too, but not as regularly.

Another 588cb shout, have owned most the sets mentioned on this thread and would say the best for me have been the X forged 13 and the 588cb, cb's just edging a close contest, can be had new in the UK for £200! Absolute steal.

I got my RSi TP (4-PW) for $259 at a PGA Superstore. Mint condition.

 

I gained a club in distance. Great feel. Able to flight the ball. And the ball works both directions well.

Many have mentioned the TailorMade 300s. I had a set and the soles on them are seriously thin. Definitely a better players iron - don't expect them to be too forgiving.

I bought a 3-PW 8/10 set of 690.CB's with sensicore s300's for $80 at Roger Dunn last year. I'd say that qualifies as a "poverty player's CB."

I have been playing well lately and looking to "upgrade" to my first players forged iron. With a sub $300 budget I have narrowed it down to these sets:

 

Mizuno MP 32

Titleist 690.CB

Bridgestone J33 CB

 

 

Are there any other sets I should consider?

 

MIzuno MP 60. They were played by dozens of guys on the Web.com and many very good sticks still carry them today. The handicap range is up to 12! They are easy to hit and flighted so that the long irons get up easy. One of the 3 best cavity designs ever at Mizuno. I took me over a year to finally put them away to play the 64's.
