Best value tour ball right now

I was a big fan of k-sig.

With that performance at $15 per dozen is just unreal.

I wish I bought them as a whole pallet.

Anyway, more balls needed.

I am not that picky with golf balls.

I can play any premium balls with urethen cover.

So, most important factor is cost.

I found Callaway SR3 deal from Maple Hill Golf.

$50 for 3 dozens of SR3.

Free shipping over $100 purchase.

6 Dozens for $100.

$16.6 per dozen.

Delivered within 2 business day.

Satisfied.

It all depends on what you are looking to get out of your ball. Is greenside control a big factor? Or does that extra 5 yards off the tee do it for you? Figure out what you place the most importance on and attack it from there.

I honestly cannot tell the difference between prov1, z-star, tp and k-sig. They all perform great for me.

So, I tend to find the best deal.

I had jo chance to try that ball.

But I heard many positive comments on that ball. Will try it when I lost all of SR3.

Thanks.

Well then go with what makes sense for your wallet. Unless your game is good most don't find the difference to be consistent enough to measure

MasterGrip C4, some manner of Callaway urethane ball, $20 dozen. Other than feel, few have complained it doesn't live up the claims they make about it.

I haven't played urethene since the Maxfli U/3 but I am considering trying the offerings of MG, Snell, and Vice which are all reasonably priced. Srixon has released the new Q-Star Tour which is also urethene for about $30. I played the Gamer Tour for a while a few years ago but did have problems with distance but the supposedly have made some improvements so I would not rule it out.

Rock Bottom currently has ammo boxes of new bridgestone B330-S for 57 for 3 dozen. Based on the alignment marking they show, they appear to be the previous gen.

https://www.rockbottomgolf.com/golf-balls/new-golf-balls/bridgestone-tour-b330-s-golf-balls/

They also have free shipping right now on ANY order and if you use "welcomeback", you get another 10% off. I grabbed 2 ammo boxes for 102 to my door.

maxfli u/6 if you catch the bogo offers are $15/dz. if you can pick up at your local DSG then it's a great deal.

edit: nike rzn tour plat/blacks are a good deal right now as well - $16-$20/dz if you can find them.

In my mind it is no question the B330S, the '14 version or the '16, both great. Runner up is the '16 version of the Z Star XV.

I'm burning through my 2014/2015 B330 stash at a prodigious rate due to some driver swing "issues" at the moment. Makes me sad because the real good deals on those have pretty much dried up over the last couple months.

On the one hand when I actually A/B compare different balls by playing them side-by-side on the golf course I seldom find any real difference between them. So like ProV1/ProV1x/B330/B330S side by side the only real difference is a bit higher trajectory on ProV1x and maybe a tiny bit more suck-back chance with B330S. But they're all the same distance with each club and similar spin and the same goes for Chrome Soft or Z-Star/Z-Star XV for that matter.

So objectively I know the majority of "Tour" balls are much of a muchness for my game. But for some reason I've really bonded with the 2014/2015 B330 much like friend Panic has with the S version. I've always bought a batch of something or another, played them for a few months and then it's been fun switching to something new when my stash runs out. But I am going to be totally bummed when my B330 stash is exhausted. Especially on iron shots I just seem to have a great sense of what the ball is going to do on a normal strike vs. if I catch it flush vs. a slight mishit. Unlike the Chrome Soft which always seemed to have me second-guessing my club selection the B330 makes it easy to allow a bit extra to clear a bunker lip or choose a club for a back hole location that I know won't go over the green if I catch it perfect.

The good news is, they got so cheap late in 2016 that I stocked up on enough to last a year or so even at my current ridiculous lost-ball rate...

Regular U6 Tour is a good ball that feels firm like a prov1x or other firmer model tour balls. When they were Bogo I got a dozen of the U6 and U6X. After playing the U6, I exchanged the box of U6X for another dozen of the U6. U6X must be pretty damn firm feeling.

Top Flite Gamer Tour is a good bargain ball with a urethane cover. It's got a soft feeling to it that's semi mushy but it performs well.

I hated the U6X, didn't feel like a urethane ball at all, too hard

That's what I was afraid would happen. The regular U6 felt slightly on the firmer side versus what I prefer, but was still very playable.

the new Elixr ball from Oncore is superb..will retail at $33 per dozen and from the 'confidential" testing results that I had the chance to see VERY VERY favouarble to all the top balls.

I was lucky enough to get some pre release balls to test, and I was very impressed with how the ball felt.

I would have no problems putting it straight into my bag...in fact I have.

Bridestone, Srixon, and Nike can all be found for good deals. I was at the Nike outlet a few weeks ago and they had boxes of RZN Platinums for under $20 a dozen. Unfortunately I don't care for the Platinum as much, but I'm personally a big fan of the RZN Black. It doesn't feel the best, but that ball flat out performs for me. Z-Star XV is the next best in performance for me, but feels better, IMO. TM's previous year balls go on decent sales as well. I have a few custom boxes of the new TP and TPX coming and I'm very excited to try them, after all the reviews I have seen, they look to be a decent change from the typical tour ball in performance standards.

It continues to amaze me that one brand or another of slightly cheaper alternative balls (Snell, Vice, MG, the new Oncore) continue to pop up every year or so. They are all contract-made, direct to consumer balls that basically sell for a direct-to-consumer discount on the price of the major name brands.

All that is good but when there is a constant stream of even cheaper balls from the big names available, usually last year's version, it amazes me there's any market for a $33 Oncourse or a $27 Snell or whatever when you can get well-known brands new old stock routinely for $20-$25/dozen.

I guess they must be serving the market of people want to play a brand that's both cheaper and unique among their usual foursome, rather than just shopping for a cheaper price on the same, non-unique Bridgestones or Srixons that everyone else plays.

P.S. Somewhat tangentially, the same thing is going on lately with rangefinders. Every few months there's another start-up brand coming along selling the same array of white-label rangefinders from the same Asian factories. You read the specs on them and they've all got the same features, they're all the same weight and dimensions, only the color and maybe the style of viewfinder reticule differs. And they all sell for more or less the same price, give or take occasional markdowns and sale pricing.
