If the weather is decent I think I can get away with leaving saturday with the excuse that I know we need something from Ikea. I appreciate the ongoing updates. Would love to know anything in that area just south of Boston that may be open without traveling towards the Cape

 

Ridder Golf & Farm is open, a bit soggy though. Not sure if temporary tees are still in place. The front nine is quite short, the back nine is more challenging.

Bunch is stuff is set to open this weekend. Juniper Hills is opening the lakeside course. Newton Comm will be walk on only.

Sean, need a south shore update. Holding out hope the plymouth area didn't get destroyed like we are up north at the moment.

 

Olde Scotland, Ridder, Crosswinds, Atlantic, DW Fields, and I think Waverly is open, or will be in the next day or so.

 

I would imagine most everyone will be opening soon since GHIN season starts on April 1.

Played the back nine at Olde Scotland Links today after the rain came down yesterday afternoon. Was certainly soggy in spots, but that is to be expected this time of year. Greens rolled pretty well and there was only one temporary green, which was on hole 16.

And welcome to New England as it's going to snow on Friday and delay golf season yet again. Great. Maybe we'll get out on a real course by May at this point. Other than several freezing rounds during the winter there hasn't been any 'real' golf since early December. I'm getting cabin fever at this point - there's only so many times you can go to the range afterall.

I told myself I was going to do whatever it takes to play golf this weekend. We're now looking at about 16" up here tomorrow/night. I may have to hit the slopes Saturday for the first time this season instead just to avoid killing myself.

I am playing Atlantic Country Club Sunday afternoon. Hoping Plymouth courses stays open with less than an inch of snow tonight. Has anyone ever played there? Got a groupon deal with promo code for $36. Perfect for early season golf.

Atlantic is a nice course, pretty straightforward layout without too many gimmicky holes. Also like it because they are one of the rare courses that allows walking on weekend mornings.

I played Atlantic on Tuesday and it was in pretty good shape. Greens rolled nicely.

I understand that there will likely be courses open in Plymouth tomorrow. Looked at the Crosswinds web-cam and it seems that they just got a lot of rain.

 

My question - is there anywhere south of Boston, which dodged the snow and where one could practice hitting balls of mats AND then do some chipping, pitching, putting on real grass? I know Pinehills has a decent practice facility and may be open tomorrow. Happy to drive down if I can get some decent practice and then maybe grab 9 holes if there's a slot...

Sorry I was probably not clear on my question. What I was really looking for feedback on is WHICH southern courses/ranges have a decent short-game area/pitching grass area and range that may be open. I only really know the Pinehills/Waverly/Crosswinds courses south of Boston. What about RI?

Pinehills said they will make an announcement on Twitter and Facebook around 630 tomorrow as to whether they are open or not. Im sure their practice facility would be open as well

Ended up getting out on Pinehills Nicklaus just before 2pm. Considering all the rain the course got on Saturday it was in pretty decent shape. And even though it was cart paths only and pretty busy we were still done in 4 hours 10 mins.

Atlantic was a great track and I highly recommend. There was of course a few plugged balls bc of the rainfall but that was expected. The greens rolled true and were difficult for me at least even though slow. So many great places to play in Plymouth.
