I am very pleased so far with my SZ. Really loving the feel/sound as much as the performance.

Mine just came in on Friday so I have had exactly 1 range session and 1 round with it. I haven't had a chance to really get comfortable with it. First shot at the range was dead straight and long. Gave me a nice first impression. First drive on the course was solid too.

The sound is definitely different, but I knew that going in because I had hit it outside several times before ordering it. My biggest takeaway is that distance loss is pretty minimal on off-center strikes.

For example, I had 2 swings on 17 & 18 that really couldn't have been any different. 1 was perfectly struck and had a nice little draw, really good swing. 285y carry (plugged, easy to measure) down the left center. On the next hole, it was struck in the heel and a little low... and went 290y (don't know how much was roll) right in the middle of the fairway. Based on strike, I was completely shocked at where the ball ended up.

Fwiw, I have the Fuji Pro 62 Green in stiff flex and ordered it at -.5"

Standard for me. Mucho luv!! Played in a tourney in Palm Springs yesterday. Didn't need driver but maybe on 4 holes. Some very tight holes but just kept hitting fairways all day so I stayed with it. Best day of driving in many a year.

I'm one of the fortunate ones who must have been misfit for my Ping G30 because I'm consistently 2 to 3 clubs less into every hole now and suddenly I'm even with or ahead of guys in my golf group who have always been 20-25 yards ahead of me after drives. And count me as one who loves the sound and feel, particularly when compared to the tuna can sounds of Titleist, Cobra and Ping drivers.

I absolutely am thrilled with my Epic SZ. It is long, and straight and forgiving. It is giving me a much more aggressive ball flight and I am actually getting some roll after the carry as a result (soft fairways here in central Florida tend to plug or just hit and go a couple of yards). I am by no means a big hitter (240 with my old XR was considered a bomb; average was 225-230) but I have hit several that are 260+, just unheard of for me. Right around 240 is now a normal drive with the SZ for me. Thats a club and a half less on my approaches. For me this has been a game changer so far (only 3 rounds with it).

I REALLY want one of the low spin Tour 440 heads. Supposed to be less left bias and 500-600 rpm lower than the retail head. I need this.

Is that a low spin/anti left Epic SZ you are talking about? If so I would also be interested. I just found it too easy to turn over compared to my M2 which seems to be easier to hit.

I found no useful gains compared to my Great Big Bertha and my previous Cobra King Ltd. For me, the GBB is better by 8-12 yds but admittedly it is due to the shaft, a Kuro Kage TiNi. At age 69.8, I'll take 242-251 yds. and the cost to chnage drivers was $2.93 compared to $200+ for a shaft for the Cobra and a lot more for an Epic.

On the course I'm seeing more distance and accuracy than I got with my XR16 SZ. How could I have any buyer's remorse after that? Definitely love it!

Going out this Saturday to use it outside for the first time. LM numbers for me are good, but I also purchased a Project Yellow for my M2, so the shoot out will be on. They both produced similar numbers, but the outside test will create the winner. All shots inside look good. LOL

Interested in this shoot out...let us know

This thread reminds me of Eamon D'Arcy. When asked what he thought of modern 'technology' in regard to golf clubs, he replied "Sure, it's marvellous, but it's no bloody good if you can't play".

So true. Equipment is only as good as the player wielding it.

Depends on the meaning of "Modern". I am the very definition of "can't play". I've hit my 1951 Jimmy Demaret persimmons with 130g steel shafts and I've hit my "modern" Ping G driver with graphite shaft. As someone who "can't play" I'm telling you that "modern" technology is a BIG improvement!

Yes, and I have the same issue with sub zero. Just too much hook bias compared to the Taylormade Tour heads I am accustomed to playing. I have a feeling the 440 would be awesome.

Loving my 10.5* SZ in every way. Regulary finding my ball in regions of fairway on my home course at age 37 with a wife and two kids that were never reached as 26 year old punk bachelor who did nothing but work, eat, sleep, and play golf. It's really astounding, and I've not had a driver in the bag that was fit poorly to me at any point during that time. For me, the Epic lives up to or even exceeds the hype.

SZ 440 version has same spin as regular SZ 460 model just made to offer a different look if needed for Tour players. You need the Tour only SZ 460 model which is lower spin and more fade bias.

Really enjoying mine. Just got the Hzrdus T800 in it (had the Fuji 62) and its putting up awesome numbers.

Bomber, is that 6.0 holding up to your swing!?? Is it the 55 or 65?

55gr. - but you'd never guess it was 55gr in a million years. Feels and plays much different.

I recorded a few on the launch monitor around 118mph and it was performing incredibly well. If it wasn't labeled, I would've guessed it around a 65-70gr x-stiff shaft.

118 swing speed, 176 ball speed was my best hit - I was very surprised by that shaft. I expected to either leave w/ an x flex Rogue Max, or back to my trusty Speeder 661 X

Not sure if that weight just works w/ the Epic head, or if the T800 is just a different animal all together.

Give it a go if you ever get a chance!

interesting...what is your speed like? any tipping??

I find it interesting that a lot of the members in this thread who have tried and like the Epic replaced other Callaway products with it. Anyone else take note of this?
