Anyone playing the same shaft weight in their driver and 3wood?

I was thinking about getting a Cally Epic 3wood, but I'm not sure what shaft to get. Since I'm in love with my driver/shaft combo I have in my Epic, Fujikura Pro 73, I thought an 83 version of the shaft would be perfect but unfortunately Fuji doesn't offer an 83 version. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience playing the same weighted shaft in both their driver and 3wood?

Up until this season I had a 65g driver, 75g 3W, and 85g hybrid, but I got a new driver and was fit into a 75g shaft, and haven't felt any reason to change my others out to match the 10g difference. I'm staying at 75g-75g-85g and it's perfectly fine (for me). One reason is that I don't really want to spend the money, and the other is I hit them fine as they currently sit, so why change?

I still use 910 D3 and 910 FD driver and 3 wood, AD DI 65x works great in each for me IF I play the 2g replacement weight in the driver head and the 12g replacement weight in 3 wood. Makes swingweight perfect and the 3 wood spins a liitle more which i'm ok with.

Just got an 85x to try out as I'm assuming it will pull down the ballflight and spin. I like the lighter shaft for higher launch and spin because my 3 wood usually isn't a tee club. I think the 85x will feel great, but may be more of a driver replacement than a fairway monster.

I don't really consider a hybrid a "wood" but I have gone the same weight in driver and fairway and had great success. I've gone on both ends too played 85 gram driver shaft and fairway shaft. Then have played 65 gram driver and fairway shafts. I think I do best with a driver shaft around 68 grams and a fairway around 75ish though.

i should mention i go heavier in hybrid shafts .. 100 / 105g for example. Need to be close to steel weight IMO to mimic feel of irons, for me anyways

I use 85g in driver and 3w currently but I normally go 75-80 driver, 90g fw. The biggest difference is swing weight. My driver is D6 and the fw is D3 so it's a tad different but I like it.

I am putting a similar setup in play with my driver/4w. I struggle when I can't feel where the club is at during my swing. Played a 75g/85g setup before with the most consistency to date for me. Had to go and tinker though.

My preference is 70 gram driver, 80 - 85 fairway, and 90 - 100 hybrid, but I have played 85 from driver to hybrid with no noticeable issues.

I used to keep a more standard sw with the driver and had the same problem. One day, I added a few grams to the head of my driver and it made a huge difference. Now, I look for D5-6 in my all full swing clubs but every once in a while, I get a good combo standard like my Fly-Z+. My wedges I look for E something. It sounds heavy but it makes a HUGE difference for me, especially in partial swings.

I used to be at the 10g weight variance, but currently I am not, driver is the Rogue Silver 125 MSI 60 TX (65g) and my 3 wood has the Diamana WB D+ 82x (85g), then my Cally X Utility Proto has a AD DI 105x, so more of a 20g difference between, it seems to work great for me...

67 gram. Fuji pro tour spec 63x

66 gram. Fuji 665X 3 wood and 5 wood.

Your wood shaft weights are an issue of preference. There's no rule here, although, I do think either all the same weight or ascending weight makes the most sense. Of course, It would be odd to have descending weight going into the shorter woods and hybrids.

Your iron shafts tend to be a set of all the same weight, why not your woods?

I have prolaunch blue on both driver and 3 wood.. seem to work pretty well..

Both 65g, but 3 wood is shorter, so it's lighter..

Your shaft is a 2 or 3 grams lighter because it is trimmed slightly more, but the 3 wood is heavier.

I guess we are talking about shafts here, so I suppose that's what you mean anyway. Sorry.

Yeah. Kinda stumbled onto it. I really need to feel the head during the swing. I can get by with D3-4 but then the club static weight needs to be high too.

I stumbled onto this by accident years ago when I found out my driver was D6. I run D6 and progress to E0

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
