Better to get countercore SS than regular with the Spider?

I went with the counter core. The main reason being that you can adjust the headweight of this putter as easily as you can replace the counter core so you have a ton of different combos you can experiment with to see what works best for you.

Just got my Spider back from Continental... They do phenomenal work! I had them paint an orange finish and purple sole plate (I'm a die hard Suns fan). Also had them install an orange Pure grip to match!

That looks great man!

For those of you who have hit both the Black and Red, which one did you go with and why? I hit my buddy's Red and it was enough for me to take the plunge on the Black. Took it out the first round yesterday and it's been awhile since playing and the greens weren't the best, but the Black felt like it had an aluminum or higher pitched ting I wasn't expecting and I don't remember the Red doing that. Any similar experiences? Thinking of trying to trade off the Black for a Red.

Bit the bullet and bought a spider tour black off the BST should be here next week sometime. I could only resist temptation for so long.

The putters have different inserts. The Red (JDay) is softer than the Black (DJ).

I know they are different, since I hit them on different days couldn't really do an apples to apples, was just wanting to get other's feedback

I had the black out for a few rounds and felt the same way about it. I think it all depends on what you're coming from. I also found myself coming up short with it a lot.

I'll agree that I've been having some challenges with distance control. I'll leave a 15 footer 5 feet short and then turn around and blast a 30 footer 10 feet past. I'm chalking it up to still learning the weight of the putter and how the face reacts, but it's concerning. 5 feet and in the putter is very solid for the most part.

Maybe I just need to hit my irons closer...

Had this same problem. I hit both the Red and Black in store (black was still wrapped), either way they both did not make that sound you are referring to. I went with the Black for the firmer feel. But even on my indoor putting green it didn't make that sound. Brought it to the course and was making that aluminum higher pitched ting, but it doesn't happen on every putt. Actually, yesterday was my 2nd time on course and it didn't make that sound at all. Could it be where on the face you are hitting? I wonder if the Red is like that on course.

If definitely wasn't every putt, more often on longer putts (when striking harder) as I've never noticed indoors.

Just left GG and noticed the Black does have a higher pitch. I own the Red and still not getting how ppl compare the feel to a Odyssey White Feel. It does not feel feel soft to me. It's not that soft to me. Using KSIG's and just sold my Scotty Newport M2 so I know what a difference the Red Tour is.

With that said... I sort of like the feel of the Black better..

I did have them bend mine to 69* lie and 3* loft. Rolled a bunch of putts in with it in the store and compared it head to head vs stock Blacks and Reds. SS GTR 2.0 grip on it might have made the difference too.

I made the leap today and purchased a 35" Tour Red. Feels real nice.. and there were definitely some that appeared to sit more open than others. I sorted through and found the one that best suited my eye. The first thing I did was trash the small stock grip and throw on a Winn Jumbo Grip. Fits much nice in my hands. Not sure about everyone else, but I always do my own grips. I was able to ensure that the grip lines up perfect for my position, I think that will help more than normal considering these may or may not sit perfect. Going to take it on the course tomorrow and see how it does. Hoping for a lot of one putts.

Does anyone know if the hosel is good to be bent? At address, I find that the toe of the club is a little elevated - more than I would like. I am thinking I need only one degree or so flat.

I read that DJ plays his at 69 which is 1* flatter than the standard so I think it should be ok to bend. Anyone try it?

Yes, easy to bend. Just had mine bent at GG a few hours ago. Went with 69* lie angle.... much better.

Missed multiple 2-3 footers today...

Immediately donated the Ping Zing to the old man while withholding temptation to break it.

Got home, ran upstairs and had a DJ Spider 34" ordered within 5 minutes. Should arrive late next week.

At the very least, I should improve from 2ft and in...

Good luck! Love the enthusiasm and quick action.

Where can you get replacement weights for them? This may have been answered before, and if so I appologize.

Ebay. Old TM drivers. These are just standard TM weights that they have been using in drivers and putters for years.

Any pics of the red painted black yet? Wanna see the black with black face

Check out NorCal Putter's instagram....he did mine, which is a red painted black (with purple bumpers). There's another one that is black and really dark navy....was a red.

I prefer the feel of the Red but greatly dislike the color. I don't like the sound the black makes but love the performance.

The black and navy one on Instagram is mine can't wait to get it back.

It's a Pure "Big Dog" grip. I absolutely love them. They are similar in size to a Winn 1.18" or Superstroke 2.0, but made of solid rubber, so a little more responsive in my opinion.

First round with the Red today and I am a huge fan. 29 putts and dropped some serious bombs! Two 50+ footers also.

Playing it cut down to 33", 14 gram weights, and a SS GTR 2.0.

I know it's in this thread somewhere but haven't read through all 30 pages yet... has anyone had success adding a white sight line to the black model? And if so, what did you use? I'm thinking ther has to be something durable but non-permanent... some kind of tape maybe?

Took the DJ model out for a spin. Did not drop.any bombs but did not 3 putt either. Course I play (legacy, Norwalk, IA) has fast greens that are very ungulated and I usually have a couple of three putts per round. Putter does seem to have a slight hollow sound which may take a while to get use to. The face is a little hotter than my Lajosi and Xenon. Black and Red play very similar to me.
