What is the sole like on the Hi-Toe? More ATV or M Grind?

 

The review descibes the sole grind. I’m not sure the sole grind matches a previously available sole grind.

Thanks, it appears from the article that it is indeed concave in the center like the ATV Grind, but with more heel and toe relief. It really looks a lot like the Solus Grind.

I didn’t get to try it out at the show, but so far am looking to get an X Grind or D Grind type sole, which TaylorMade will probably come out with next year if they prove popular with Callaway and Titleist at retail.

Has anyone bought the Black finish and tried to strip the paint like others have previously on Vokeys?

I did it on my MD3's and they came out great.

I think I read somewhere a while ago that this Black finish wouldn't strip like the vokeys or md3's, but I can't remember if this was another wedge.

 

Can anyone help as I'd buy Black if can strip to raw but otherwise would play bronze.

I thought I had heard that it would wear off, so I think you could strip it. The bronze looks pretty close to raw in my opinion, but I believe that you could even strip those too if you wanted to.

These are truly great wedges. Just picked upthe hi toe. Oh wow. It is awesome. I have the Ping 2 black in the Es and had a PM. I love this wedge!!

I just picked up some of these. They feel great so far but i noticed they don't spin as much as my Vokeys on full shots. Maybe a short test period after one round but just something i noticed.

Do either the black or antique bronze strip to make raw? If so how.

I haven't tried it on either of them, but I believe that they would both strip to a raw finish. I know that you can soak them in white vinegar, but I've never tried that. I did some black SM6s for my friend. Take Naval Jelly Rust Remover and cover the head. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes then brush it around. Let it sit for another 5 minutes, brush and then rinse off. Usually have to do this process twice to get all of the finish off, sometimes three times. If you want, take a scotchbrite pad and do some straight lines on the wedge to take away the dull flat finish.

Im so glade they release the Black and Bronze! The chrome was so blinding! The performance was always top notch, but the chrome was obnoxious.

Went to a wedge fitting. Initially did not include these for testing but the fitter did after about 10 minutes. I never would have expected it but these MG wedges felt great. Seem a little heavier compared to Cally MDF and MD4 and for whatever reason they were more consistent for me than Vokeys. Tried the Edels, but not for me. Mizuno S18 also very solid. The fitter did tell me that I look smoother with a heavier build and I should not get lightweight shafts in my wedges.

 

I am a toe misser when I miss and these MG heads with bore-through hosels seem to compensate for that tendency. They have a nice weight to them in the swing. Easy to flight low when wanted. I have played TM irons in the past — long live the RAC LT! — but I don’t recall ever playing a TM wedge. Going to start with a 58 or 60 bronze Hi-Toe and go from there.

 

Out of this one session In a blind ranking I would have gone TaylorMade, Vokey, Mizuno and Callaway. I mean, they’re all nice. The surprise was how well the Milled Grind fit my swing tendencies. I am probably 2 degrees upright naturally. I got it in my head that was costing me power and I have tried to flatten my swing a bit but I can’t seem to do that consistently. I score better when I don’t try to change it and the fitter advised I am worrying about nothing and lack of speed is not an issue. But maybe that is a factor in the TM wedges matching up well. Don’t know but I would say TM did a nice job on these.

Just closed out my bag with 3 new milled wedges. 60/58/52. Used them on the range just a few weeks ago, and they were def softer than the Vokeys. Love the look as well!

Picked this up in the used wedge bin at my local golf shop for $79. Will definitely try out this weekend on the course.

Since I got the 58* hi-toe. I caved in and bought a 52* Milled grind wedge from second swing golf.

 

Should arrive later this week.

TM has released chrome, bronze and a black MG wedge. But won’t ever release a raw one.

This is unreal TM. I have had to wait 2 months for a custom Hi Toe to ship from the USA cause TM Australia see it as a custom build. Its standard KBS Wedge Flex shaft but 1/4 short and 1 flat. Want to change my order to a raw 60 cause I'm sick of waiting and would have preferred a RAW wedge all along. https://www.taylorma...wedges#start=1

 

For crying out loud TM probably have the Raw 60's right next to the Hi Toe on the assembly shelf where my customer order is being built yet they tell my golf shop the Raw can't be ordered in Australia.

 

My switch from Vokeys has officially been canceled.
