I don't mind it at all and think its funny.Just wondering how he can still draw crowds doing those same "tricks" over and over again.

People relate to him because he's more human than anybody else on tour. By that I mean he doesn't hide or fake anything, he is who he is and people admire him for that. Everyone knows his story and his mistakes. He's one of us who just happens to drive the ball extremely far.

Really wish he wasn't back on the sauce. There was actually a really touching moment during John's Feherty interview when he mentioned he had tasted an alcohol he was going to sponsor. Feherty, as a fellow recovering alcoholic, pounced hard but you could tell it came from a place of love and respect for a friend and colleague who has been needlessly torn up by alcohol many times.

What a waste of talent. Stopped feeling sorry for him years ago. When he back handed the putt after it was rolling off the green in the 1999 Open...that was enough for me. He's a loser. Still wish I could golf as good as him! LOL

No no, I think you misinterpreted my post. I was just pointing out that for big john, his idea of quitting drinking is just drinking beer. I'm sober 4 + years myself; was just passing on what I have heard.

Daly still drinks the hard stuff too. He's a nice guy, but he just has his demons like a lot of people.

Just because someone doesn't hide or fake who they are makes them, "more human", and worthy of admiration? My dad was a foul-mouthed, serial adulterer, alcoholic, child and wife abuser, chain-smoker, and general all-around scoundrel. He "was who he was", and didn't hide it, so, I guess I should have admired him, huh? Oh, he was just a "good ol' boy", or "everyman", a "blue collar hero", right?

 

If it is true that Phil Mickelson fakes his smile, kindness and generosity, then, I'd gladly take that over someone who doesn't hide who they are and are of poor character.

I got fed up with Daly a long time ago.

I don't mind people being a bit different but why people still wanted​ to watch him in the last 10 years or so has baffled me.

Mwkbmw - way to take something the wrong way, twist it and than run with it. I'm sorry your dad was like that but how is that in anyway whatsoever a comparison to Daly? Because he drinks and gambles makes him a terrible human? No it makes him human. You may not like that people admire him for being real but it doesn't make it any less true. He is a true example of a professional athlete in the spotlight who is true to himself and doesn't hide from it. That's what people admire. Who are we to judge anybody for the mistakes they made in their own life?

 

Like I said, if that is what you had to deal with growing up than I'm sorry, but in no way did I ever say that people admire individuals who are like that at all. I wouldn't. And if you can't see the difference between your dad and John Daly than I can't help you there. The guy clearly has a massive following and it's not because he's good at golf.
