5 birdies and shot 86... last weekend in 3 day tournament... sunday before shot 75 with a double and a triple....same course . who the heck knows... its a mental problem for me.... i can make tons of birds but havent yet killed the blowup hole

Minor threadjack but I shot a side one time that included an eagle, 2 birdies, 2 pars, 2 bogeys and 2 doubles. One of those things when you are done you ask yourself "what just happened?"

I was 3 under after 6 - went birdie eagle. Was striking the ball great. After the eagle I cold chunked my 3 wood off the tee into a pond 20 yards in front of the tee. Took double. Out in 36 (-1). Dumped a PW in the water at an island par 3, and managed to bogey the last with 2 water balls for a 78, 5 over par...

 

Probably my best opportunity to shoot par or better in the past few years....

I once made 4 birdies and an eagle without even breaking 80. HI was somewhere between 18 and 19 at the time.

It was in a fourball/better ball stroke play event, so my partner was happy enough. He even made two eagles in the round, holing out from 150 meters on a par 4 and making a hole-in-one on a 200 meter par 3 with driver. At the time, his HI was over 20.

Reading this thread I thought aren't 95%+ of all golfers excluded as we've never sniffed par? I'm one of those and had a magical 9, with 4 birdies (3 under 5') and 2 bogies, which is the most birdies I've ever had..... Back nine not so good.........

 

BTW the 4 birdies may represent 33% of my birdies for the year (and yes a lot of rounds).

Don't remember my score but 77 sounds about right.

Wind was blowing so hard I could barely stand up, fairways hard as a rock. I was driving par 4's I had never reached and hitting 3 solid shots to reach others.

 

Just goes to show the term par is very relative to the conditions you are playing in.

Played with a guy the other day who had 4 birdies and I would be shocked if he broke 90. He had a 48 at the turn with 3 birdies. I've never seen anythign quite like it.

 

Mine is't really that great, I had 5 birdies once and shot 2 over.

It is called inconsistency, and it is pretty common among reasonably athletic people who took up the game as adults with a certain amount of talent, but not much time to practice. Most of my friends are like that, and I am as well. We are now in our late 40s, early 50s and in the 8 to 13 handicap range. Any of us can play 9 holes under par on a serious, yet not overly long golf course on any given day, but still end up with a score in the high 80s, if desaster strikes on two holes.

5 birdies and 1 eagle along with 3 doubles and 4 bogeys. I birdied or better on every GIR I hit that day. Chipping yips and nerves destroyed me.
