OP Idk if you've ever been an active member on a specialized forum or not but let me give you some advice.

I've been an active member of several types of forums (golf, hunting. Auto, etc) and in my experiences I've had the best buying and selling transactions with people through those markets than places like eBay or Craigslist. Buy doing a little research and looking at the sellers post count and feedback it'll help you out. Also check and see how many likes they have. Member's with a good amount of posts/likes and good feedback are 99.999% likely NOT to be scamming anyone on the forum because they have a vested interest here. Unlike someone on eBay who does not. There's always an exception but i have dozens of transactions buying used golf clubs, duck calls and auto parts on forums and I've never had an issue.

People buy used duck calls? That's kind of gross.

One other thing, is the seller someone who only uses the site for the BST or is the seller a wrx'er? Meaning does the seller participate in other threads or do they only post in the BST? I'm sure there are some great sellers who mainly only post in the BST but I feel safer buying from a wrx'er.

Its no different than buying a used wind instrument or renting one while your child is in band during school. You just clean it when you get it. Most of the used cal market is more of a collectible market anyways.

Ironic.

How's your brother?

How's it ironic? Lol

No idea what my brother has to do with me and his habit of always putting stuff off. Sorry he's one of the bad apples you all had to deal with. As I've said before.

I'm saying it's ironic that you are blocking people that you don't want to deal with when it was your own brother who was a scammer on this site and was banned for cheating people.

Don't call it "putting stuff off", that's lame. He cheated people. Plain and simple. Nothing worse than a thief.

And again what does it have to do with me? I haven't done one thing wrong on this site but block people that I don't want to do business with. I call it how I see it. I don't scam people but yet you're getting crappy with me over something I can't control?

Did you try to get your brother to do the right thing? What was said about this around the Christmas tree?

We will agree to disagree here. Don't mean to be crappy, but your brothers actions here were deplorable.

Let's just say he's the type to never admit he's wrong. I've brought it up to him before and that was his excuse "he put it off". It came up when he asked me to sell something on here for him and I told him NO because I knew he screwed people out of money. It isn't right. He got crappy with me and tried to make me feel like a crappy person because I wouldn't sell his irons for him. I don't agree with what he did. I've never defended him and nor will I since he was in the wrong.

I don't take any of what you're saying to offense. I understand you and many others are pissed. I would be also. I'm sorry. I'm not going to plead for forgiveness when I haven't done anything wrong in this situation. If you don't want to do business with me, that's fine. No bad blood. I respect everyone on here. I'd rather earn my business than expect someone to do business with me.

Now that is a solid response. I'm glad to hear you did address this with him and refuse to sell his gear (which is a violation of BST rules if I'm not mistaken). Your brother didn't scam me, I'm merely trying to protect the field and I hope you understand my POV.

Extensive BST - yes

Bunch of people getting burned - no

do some research...

The BST Dispute forum proves otherwise. The term "bunch" is open for interpretation. Cheers.

Last 24 hours 126 positive reviews... 0 negative

Last week 610 positive reviews... 1 negative

last Month 2133 positive reviews .... 5 negative

Last 6 months 12,322 positive reviews.... 20 negative

past 12 months 21,676... 36 negatifve

so if you are saying you feel 'bunch' is open for interpretation then either you are one person I don't even want to consider doing any form of business with or you are delusional.... and in some cases maybe both.

In the end some people are never happy.... if you feel the site needs to open an additional thread for "Good to go" reviews then you will never be happy here.

If you feel you need to gift payment to save 3% on a $150 item, you shouldn't be buying the club. If a seller wants you to send funds "gifted" to save the $4 or so fee then it's probably someone you don't want to deal with. Common sense prevails yet that sense isn't so common. In trades you take chances and I suggest you work only with someone with great feedback on trades. Then again, you have none so my advice would hinder you on your end.

I've been burned on trades before so I proceed with extra caution now.

I had a guy on BST insist I gift the money through Paypal and I refused. He then came up with some lame reason not to do the transaction, that's been my only experience on BST so far.

Yulp I completely understand. Like I said I'm not getting crappy or mad because I see where you are coming from.

You have a good week and good holiday weekend as well. Go get some of that good food at the Taste of Cincinnati. If I don't go riding this weekend I'll definitely be enjoying that.

Look at the dates in the section you reference. Maybe you should go to eBay to purchase stuff...much safer there.

Yes the APP needs work and I for one do not use it. OP, here it is about building relationships through our apparent addiction to this game. In reading your original post and the reaction from members, it sounds like you just stepped off a spaceship. With many sites like Amazon and EBAY, we would all assume that you have in one way or another heard or delt with those sites before this one. Like anything else on this planet it is a learn as you go site. I for one have bought and sold enough to say there are more awesome members on here than losers out there trying to scam people. Yes scammers are everywhere unfortunately so protect yourself by using reputable payments sights like Paypal to send and receive payment. Like many a people said, always communicate with the seller through PM or Personal Messages which you can do just by clicking on there avatar ( box with picture in it). The feedback score designated by different color stars will show you feedback that was left on various transactions the member has conducted on this site. For myself there is no such thing as too many questions especially if I am the seller. You have a responsibility as a buyer as well. Dont assume that all sets of golf clubs are created equal. This site is a notch above as a lot of the members have some connection to Tour Vans, mini tour players, and Golf aficionados with a great collection of golf gear. And you have members like myself who love the game and love what this site provides. One more thing OP, you heard about first impressions right....... Just kidding. Hope you find what you are looking for and welcome to the site.

Thanks for the welcome and for reaching out. My main question was how to best protect yourself from scammers and somehow that got misconstrued to me calling this site a bunch of scammers. I should have just kept lingering around and not created a profile. Some people can just be territorial I guess. Again, didn't mean any harm and thanks to those who offered advice.

This site is very territorial when it comes to protecting against scammers. That is why the deal/no deal section has a purpose. You did rub a lot of people when you essentially grouped us into that "bunch" that you mentioned. Like I said you have to build relationships on this site and earn peoples trust. Make your communication clear through PM's and build your reputation on here. That pretty much sums up how you can make this site better and not turn it into ebay.

The fact that the above post would lead to that just confirms my comments. If that would lead you to block me, I have no interest in doing business with you in the first place

Bomber61 and JopagocksNY are working really hard to get to 75 posts, fast. Not sure if instigating the community is the recommended approach but to each his own, I guess...

Will be interesting to see what they are trying to sell here...

Imagine how refreshing it would be if they actually openly admitted that they were just trying to work their way into being allowed to sell on the BST. Might actually build at least some trust and credibility.

But you are dead on - it is fairly obvious what's up here. Not going to go well for them if they do hit the 75 mark and post ads. I've seen a lot of newbies come in and do the same thing only to end up being really disappointed when their reputation followed them and they were not able to sell anything.

I've got nothing to sell. If that was my end game I think I could rack up posts a bit quicker than I am. I not really worried about being blocked either. If anything I've said causes people to think I can't be trusted to do business with, well then they've got bigger problems than me being blocked I guess...
