Had a chance to hit the Epic Pro irons with PX LZ 5.5. While I love everything about the head size, top line, sole, and offset, the feel vastly underwhelms. As others have said, it's a hard crack at impact that is very off-putting. Definitely not better feeling than my X-Hot Pro's with PX 95 5.5.

 

The feel is more of a deterrent than the exorbitant price.

Just heard that Cally is going to offer different colors on the Epic irons sometime in the next 30 days or so... great news as that green is fugly. And at over 2 hundy per stick, they should look better (muted black on back would be an improvement IMHO).

Same feel as the standard LZ shafts but it generates more club head speed since it is lighter. Earlier this year I had sepsis that left my left leg very week and lost strength overall. Once I could play golf again, I was hitting my Apex with standard LZ shafts about 10 yards shorter than pre-sepsis. I ordered the Epic irons with the LZ 95 and had them softstepped one time. I am back to hitting the same yardages as pre-sepsis with the same performance flight wise. Plus the Epic irons have tighter dispersion.

Tested the Epic, Epic Pro, T-MB and AP3 on trackpad outdoors. Ruled TMB out based on feel. Just wasn't my cup of tea. Epic was best in distance and forgiveness and I ranked the feel in Epic higher than the Epic Pro and AP3. I actually thought the AP3 performed better on bad swings than the Epic Pro. Just got my Epics today and they didn't disappoint on range. Playing this weekend and can't wait!

Any more on course reviews of the pro's? Didn't like the looks of them in the pictures but seen them in person the other day & they actually looked pretty good.

They definitely look better in person then in pics and set up rather nicely at address. Coming from forged clubs, the feel is still not there for me. A little clicky for my taste but good attempt to mimc the feel of forged with a hotter face. Off they go so I can try another set;)

I went with the Epics after testing all the latest releases. The Epics are long and forgiving, even more than the CF16's they replaced in my bag. I preferred the Epics over the Epic Pro's and hit them better but then I wasn't shocked given I'm a 16 handicap. They have a nice high ball flight and hold the green well, even the 5i.

Been playing the XR Steelheads for over a year and Epic Pros just became available on Callaway Preowned heavily discounted. Threw a couple of old backup drivers, a putter and a set of RSi2’s at trade in, and I’ve got 4-AW in Epic Pros shipping to me for $400.
