Titleist Fitting @ Manchester Lane or Club Champion Fitting?

I've been debating which one to do for a while.

The Titleist fitting is $600 which is expensive and is not applied to a purchase.

The benefits are that it is done outside and you have continuity of playing one brand throughout the bag. They do not fit you for a putter though.

The Club Champion fitting is $350 and also not applied to a purchase.

The benefits are they fit for every club throughout the bag including the putter and also find the best ball for you. They also find the best clubs that work for you and your swing and not just the best Titleist clubs that work for you. I just wonder what the average is for the number of different brands they put you in?

Through a lot of experimenting on my own I have found a driver head (2017 M2), iron heads (MP 25), wedge heads (T7), putter (Bettinardi BB1) and ball Bridgestone Tour B330 RXS that I like.

Through a short sample out on the course with a demo club I built (MP 54 6 iron with XP 115 R300) the results have been amazing. I have seen a double digit gain in distance. I contribute this to the shaft working for me instead of against me. So I planned to reshaft my MP 25's.

Before this recent realization I had just about succumbed myself to the fact that I am on the back 9 of my golfing life. Swing speed and distance have dropped off drastically and no matter what I did this off season or what specialist I saw nothing seemed to help. I have this chronic pain that can't be explained and as a result I have had almost every test done and they have all been negative. What I do know is that I have reoccurring tennis elbow in both elbows, trigger finger and tendinitis in my thumb.

Where I really struggle is at the top of the bag with driver, fairway wood and hybrids. I think I am leaving yards on the table. With this shaft change I am hitting my 6 iron 175-180 now but I'm only hitting my driver 230-235 and I hit my 18* hybrid 215-220. I don't have a fairway wood or any other hybrids so I have some gaps and this is what killed me during my last two rounds. I saw on another forum where a member posted a screenshot of his driver fitting at Club Champion and he had a similar swing speed as me and he was carrying it 250 and had a total 277. I want those 40+ yards!

The reason for the fitting was because I wanted to fill in the gaps and find the best clubs and shafts for me. I want the softest shaft I can control and something I can play for a while because I am not going to gain any more club head speed. I want to know if I should be playing 4 hybrids (2, 3, 4, 5) or 4 wedges (46, 50, 54, 58) etc. What is the best combination for me?!

This XP 115 R300 has been a real blessing so far. I am taking a small divot now, I can feel the shaft kick through impact, I have very little pain in my elbows, the ball flight is perfect (not too high or spinning).

I don't feel like blowing up the whole bag and starting over i.e. Titleist but I do like their clubs and the same with Club Champion, I don't want to start over either. I want to see if what I have can be retrofitted and maximized for my swing.

What do you think?

All the clubs you have that you want retrofitted are all non-Tilteist; what good would a $600 fitting with Titleist clubs be?

I'm just saying I would rather not blow up the bag. If Titleist is the better option I would do that but I am not on staff with them. A full bag of Titleist would run me $3100 + the $600 fitting so...

I think you have your answer already. Go to Club Champion, they carry Titleist do they not? So if the Titleist stuff is the winner for you, not only are you going to get to try it and see it work (albeit on an indoor monitor), but you are also saving yourself roughly $250, which you would cover the cost of a hybrid or something. I have been fitting indoors for my entire career, both customers and myself, and I have not once noticed a difference in performance from what the machine was saying versus what the actual results are.

The benefit of CC too is that IF your MP25s are perfect for you, they are still orderable, and they can just chuck a demo shaft in a demo head for you to see if the XP is the one for you, or maybe something else is going to be the ticket. It's a no-brainer. Get out of your head, go for the obvious cost-saving choice that is going to give you the widest selection and go in with an open mind. Have fun.

Anyone else want to chime in?

I plan on taking the ride up to Manchester Lane also. I just have to find out when they will start fitting for the 718 AP2's and when they close down for the season. My plan is to get fit for the new 718 AP2's and have the rest of my bag checked and adjusted. I'm mainly doing this for the experience. The great thing is that I don't have to purchase anything. They give you a copy of the fitting sessions to bring back to your pro shop so you could choose to buy the equipment from them.

If I were in your shoes I'd do it just for the experience and a comparison to whatever you were thinking of buying.

Just a thought!...

TITLEIST!...

Been through CC fitting for a driver and irons.

Going in with no preconceived notions - Try different things and lets see what works - had a lot of appeal.

Titleist is probably one of the better "one brand" fitting options because they offer so many shaft alternatives . . . if, that is, their club heads work best for you. Only thing is, you go to a "Titleist-only" fitter, you won't have any way of knowing.

You'll probably do better @ Titleist if you buy.

Anything bought from CC, you pay for the club (as if you went into PGA Tourstore, etc.) and then you pay to have it reshafted (if your shaft isn't something the manufacturer offers in your preferred club). That increases cost.

Which is why you should test the "stock shaft offerings" in whatever club heads you like @ CC - make sure you need the "non-standard shaft."

Even if you find a "standard" head/shaft offering in your preferred model that works best, you may want CC - or someone like them - to handle the purchase. I'd do it because I'd want CC to pure all the shafts.

For a driver, I wound up with a 2017 M1 . . . . . 12 degree, with the head set to 10 degree, with the shaft "pured" to that setting.

Got the launch angle, backspin, everything I wanted from finding out that was what was best for me, and having the shaft "pured" to that configuration has markedly improved accuracy.

WOW, OP., I went to the National fitting centre here in Canada, $200 for a full bag fitting. Was awesome experience! ;)
