Drive 400 Distance Program .... my review

Well it's been 3 months now, so here are my final results.

I changed my launch monitor from a Skytrak to a GC2, so no pretty driving range screenshot this time, only a table from the club fitting feature.

Given that launch monitors all kind of disagree on carry and total distance, those numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt.

One thing they both do very accurately however, is measure ball speed.

Summary of my progress:

Before: Ball speed 138mph, 245 total distance.  Best ball speed and longest drive unknown.

1st month: Ball speed 144mph, best ball speed 146, longest 276 yards.

2nd month: Ball speed 148mph, best ball speed 151, longest 285 yards.

3rd month: Ball speed 153, best ball speed 155, longest 299 yards!!

In short, I started the program with an average ball speed of 138 and after 3 months I now average 153.

If the carry and total numbers are to be believed, I went from 223 carry and 245 total, to 255 carry and 278 total.

I have about 3 more months of indoor play before real golf season starts.

My goal is now to reach 160mph ball speed before then, and 167 before the end of the year.

Why 167? Well according to Trackman this is the average ball speed on the PGA Tour. Totally an ego thing to be able to say that I drive just as far as a pro.

I think it's safe to say this has been a resounding success. Cheers to all and thanks to @Harob11 !

Good work  I played today 35 degrees

and course was soaked from rain. I was hitting my driver 10 to 15 yards past my buddies all day normally we r similar off the tee shot 78 with 5 three putts.  No question the speed training has helped.

I had a fitting today at club champions CH speed was between 94 to 98

Ball speed was 140 to 144 smash factor 145 to 150.  I have issues with turning my shoulders very limited turn tightness in thoracic spine and lats.  Because of limited turn my DS is steep club path was between 10% to 5% left.  Going to work on Montes NTC  to get more shallow have 2-3 months of indoor work while the snow falls

Hey guys, it's just temporarily down. I'm reworking some things and changing some things on the legal end. If you already purchased the program, the video links should all still be working. I should have the site back up in a few weeks.

Rob.

Good luck with the rework Rob. You provide a valuable product and service and I hope you are successful.

For those that play competitively, how are you keeping your swing speed up during this time?

I've reduced training to more 3x3 instead of 5x5 to lower volume a bit for fatigue purposes and don't do any squatting etc a day or so before an event.  Naturally, it's hard to keep clubhead speed up when accuracy is at a higher premium but I notice everything is down across my bag by a few MPH of clubhead speed.

Do you mean how do you keep your speed up in competition versus speed in regular rounds? Or on the golf course speed generally vs. driving range?

@BigManSlim Sorry I meant how do you keep your speed up in general (golf course, driving, etc) during the meat of your competitive calendar when the focus is no longer gaining speed either through traditional speed training circuits, weight lifting, etc.

OK so I continue to lift and do speed work through competitive season obviously adjusting when I'm overly tired, sore, etc. But, at least for me, I feel like doing all of those things helps to loosen me up and engaged. I'm not sure I would change my routine too much in season or out of season.  But that may just be me

Happy New Year, guys.

I'm in the process of developing new programs and I was wondering if there is anything specific you guys would like to see added to the new programs? More workout options? At home only programs? More focus on recovery and injury prevention? Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks and hope everyone is doing well.

Rob.

Rob,

Constructive criticism feedback alert.

The old program was great in the sense that it introduced many different exercises that could be picked and chosen from for each workout session.  In my opinion, the Program would be better served by getting very specific with respect to doing X, Y, and Z workouts on A, B, and C days.

The most successful workout and speed programs I've seen have a recipe based method...on Monday I do X, Y, Z...Tuesday I do A, B, C....etc.  Think in terms of P90X / Body For Life / Starting Strength / SuperSpeed...etc.  They all have the same thing in common... a recipe based regimen.

The Drive 400 Program gave the user the latitude to pick several exercises, and mix it up, which is great in theory (and for variation).  But, in practice, the typical user is lazy in the sense that he/she doesn't want to have to think about what exercises to do.  They want to look at a sheet or a screen and have that day's regimen already programmed...then they just have to execute against that day's instructions.

Hope this feedback helps.  Keep up the good work.

Hey guys, I'm still alive! Lol. Thanks for the feedback and kind words. I'm still in the process of redoing everything. I really want to make sure everything is done exceptionally well, so it's taking a little longer than anticipated. Hope everyone is well and I will keep you posted.

Rob, I think you offer a very valuable product. I hope you get back up quickly.

Would you be able to share when you expect to back online?

I've got to give Rob some credit here.  If you look at my history here, I'm not new, and I'm for sure not a shill for this company.  Those that have been around can attest.

The new site and layout is much better than the old Drive400 format.

It looks best on a PC or iPad for me.  But, it will work just fine on a normal iPhone/Android.

I've done cycles of SuperSpeed training, and this program is well worth it...for the fraction of the cost of SuperSpeed.  It's almost impossible (barring injury) to not get more speed while doing this program.

Strength Training + Swing Training = Speed

I already know the SSG protocols, so, I'm mixing this in with my SSG training.

I'll check back periodically and post before and after gains.
