My new Don White irons made through the Boyd Blade and Ferrule Co **New pics 12/26**

I second the request to see finished product. I am curious to also hear about your paired length progression experience.

I really love the paired lengths. I don't think about it on the course but my ball striking has been more consistent and my distance gaps are spot on. I feel like my posture is better and more consistent because I have less positions to get into if that makes sense. Now if I could only start to putt the lights out again like I was last year when I was not hitting it nearly as well......

Ari - These clubs are obviously incredible. Absolutely stunning.

I am very intrigued by the paired length that you spec'd into this set. I had no idea that Mr. Jones had that type of a setup back in prime.

Would you mind sharing the loft progression for each iron in this set???

Thanks

I keep seeing a new post on this thread and hoping for more pics as well.

I do have a question for those that want a minimalist bag though, if a standard set has ruffly 10 yards between clubs the 7-8* gap would yield close to 20 yards. how are you going to manage the gaping? two different swings, longer grips to grip down on maybe? and in no way am I knocking the idea im curious how different people will account for the gaps. To add to the questions would you stick with a 1" length progression if you were to go a 4/6/8/W setup?

Pretty much exactly what you just wrote. Trying not to over complicate it, I'll go 4,6,8,pw,sw. You get good at 3/4 swings, maybe choking up 1/2", hitting a few more bump and runs instead of high wedges into a green. In short, you get to be as creative as you want to be!

Ari, did you use the same shaft for each paired set, or just the same length? In other words, does the 5/6 combo have two 5i shafts, two 6i shafts, or one of each?

Same shaft in each length pair of clubs.

The gaps actually work out perfectly. I find that loft has a much bigger impact on distance than a little difference in length.

If going w a half set I would do 3/4" between clubs personally as I like my shot irons a hair longer and my long irons a hair shorter.

I do play w a half set about 20% of the time I like to work on shot making by forcing myself to use other clubs than I normally would. This set works perfectly for that as I just take out one club from each of the length pairs.

These are amazing!!! How do they feel compared to an MP5?

They feel better to me than my MP5s. They are softer. Just incredible.

Sweet blades... also glad I found this thread for the Sweetens Cove information. I live about 50 miles from S. Pittsburgh. Will have to make a trip up when it warms a bit.

Sweetens is amazing wish I only lived 50 miles away!

Softer than MP5's? Wow...

Is it sacreligious of me to ask about forgiveness? They look incredible, but definitely as butter-knifey as you can get!

Much like the MP-5s they are very forgiving for a blade.

Thanks for sharing these!!! Do you recall you/DW ever making a set like this but with a muscle pad more similar to Hogan Personal/Mizuno MP 37/Gauge Designs MB1?

Thanks

Absolutely. The beauty of these clubs is DW starts w a raw slab flatback head and can literally make any muscle shape you want. Which is not only incredible in terms of unlimited options but think about the SKILLS it takes to shape that whole muscle by hand and make it perfect.........

Thanks for the quick response. I remember speaking with Patrick about irons some time back but I just didn't have the money. Still playing my 8620 wedges (best wedges I've ever had). Well, times change and I'm closer to that custom set now. Would love a pic of the heads I described above if you have any.

Thanks again for sharing these pics and stories.
