You have an excellent one. Vokeys do not feel hard to me. If you want to try others, the Ping Glide, Mizuno T7 and Callaway MD Forged all feel nice. I have a Vokey sm6 58. My gap wedge is a Ping Glide and I also have a Fourteen RM-12 (newer one is RM-22). Those are nice too.

Vokey 48 and 54 F grind SM5 bought 2 months ago,

I have had Callaway MackDaddy 2 and X Tours before that.

I genuinely like them all, and the 48 SM5 feels just fine on full or any other shots.

I have a brand new raw black 52.08 SM6 but have heard that the SM6 feels pretty hard on full shots. I'm a bit of a digger and love the soft Forged feel of my 716 cb/mb combo set. Would appreciate heRing what others like for their full shot gap wedges. Thanks

i’m like you and dig sum also. full shots on my 46°-54° doesn’t feel hard at all too me. you should try the S grind. that’s what my 54° is and i can hit the ball easy with the grind. just try and not get to steep with it or your going to dig too deep.

I have been experimenting ( too much ) with my 100 yards and in game and currently play Scratch 54,58 DS ( digger - Slider ) grind wedges . I also have a 50 degree Gap wedge that for some reason can't hit worth a damn. I like the wedges but I'm tempted to get a wedge fitting with an Edel dealer.

Scratch went out of business so I obtained some new & like new wedges on the Cheap

If it's not about forged and soft, but about forgiving.... then Ping. Anything from Tour W/S to Glides. I love them

Also for consistency on yardage my Tour W has been my 110-115 club for years. It has a bit of bounce with a thin sole that transitions well from the irons to wedges. I tried the SM6 to match my LW and wasn't won over.

Diggers are steep and want bounce. 8 is almost certainly too low. Diggers also like wide soles. Anything that "fixes" a steep miss.

Get an sm4 48.10 with decent grooves and bend it 4* weak for a 52.14 with the wide sm4 sole. Even the 52.12 sm4 would be better.

Diggers cannot have too much bounce. It's impossible.

My Speedblade GW is 50* and it is pretty darn good for a wedge that came with the set. Seller threw a Project X wedge shaft in it and as long as I make a reasonable swing, it performs.

As usual from rawdog good suggestion. Iron set wedges are often overlooked and have tons of bounce.

Truth on the bounce. I've always been a picker and I'm trying to make a conscious effort to make divots, and this thing has been begging me to slam it down like I'm beating a tire with a mallet.

I've tried hard, but it may be impossible for me to come down too steep with it :)

My old wedges were Mizuno T5s and now I feel like my gap wedge is just another pitching wedge. I pretty much never take less than 80% swing with it.

T5 is a fantastic wedge, built for a digger except for the small shelf behind the wide sole. This actually allows you to open up what is essentially a K grind.

Its hard to recommend a wedge for someone who is "sometimes" a digger because that isn't how that works. You can sometimes miss and not make a digger swing but you are always your type. I don't really know what "sometimes" a digger means. If he means that sometimes he gets steeper the closer he gets to the green (to stop the ball with height) and shallower the further away (as it moves toward a more iron-like swing) he's a driver, in which case he'd want tons of bounce and a wide sole greenside and much less from the fairway.

So, who knows. But assuming he is a digger and "sometimes a digger" means "I'm a digger who sometimes misses" he needs all the bounce he can find. If Vokey made a 46 i'd tell him to bend that to 52 to get 16*. Taylormade made 16* wedges for a little while, he could find one of those on the bay potentially. You can't have too much bounce with a steep swing. Heck, look at Lexi Thompson - steepest pro there is besides Bryson (who is in his own universe) and she plays *irons* with tons of bounce.

Edel digger grind has tons of bounce, however I have not liked them on full shots because they spin a lot and my distance control isn't great with them. Love them on less than full shots and great in soft conditions though.

Yeah, if you're not a digger they will be awful. A while back Edel was recommending 18* of bounce for a digger. The steeper you swing, the better they'll be. As players approach the green they generally get more exaggerated (steep players get steeper, shallow players get shallower). As you can probably tell from my signature, I'm a digger and play tons of bounce. There are plenty of wedge types in the middle, though, they just usually have to play different head designs at each loft so they match as they get close.

*if you're shallow. if you're steep they'll just dig.

I can highly recommend the Mizuno MP-T5 wedges, if any are still around they'd be a great buy, just feel so pure on the strike with great flight and stopping power, I'm sure the replacements are just as good but I've never tried those.

I could also easily play Mack Daddy 2.0's, and I guess 3's, I have a 2.0 58 degree tour grind in my bag and it is an excellent wedge, but not as soft feeling as the Mizunos.

I currently play a 716 CB/MB set also and am using the Callaway MD forged wedges (I use a 52/58 combo currently). Feel is very similar. I wouldn't call them 'soft' (like Miuras or Mizunos), but a similar clicky feel to the Titleists. The shape and size of the blade matches up well with the 716 MB PW also. I think the R-grind type grind is the most versatile grind out there. I previously used a 52* Vokey (and sometimes 56*) that I had custom ground with a similar grind (basically an M grind with a little more heel/toe relief). I had previously used a 59* Callaway PM (60 bent strong), and while I do like the PM grind, I prefer the size, shape (square leading edge), and feel of the forged better. I've been able to play the same shots with the R-grind, so the transition was pretty seamless.

Another vote for the Glides. I love my 50 degree gap wedge on full shots, and the 56 (bent to 55) and 60 ES are also very nice. The CFS wedge shaft complements them well.
