Help me get my wife interested...

Recommended Posts

She has been to the range a bit and she likes when she hits the ball good. She is just too lazy to go to the range and hit balls. She likes to look at new clubs and says that she wants new clubs. She has her own clubs right now and I told her if she gets more into golf then I would get her the new clubs. I don't want to just buy her the new clubs because she isn't showing enough interest and I think buying her new clubs will only make her interested in the game for a week or so and then it will be wasted money. Maybe she will never be into golf like I am, but I wish there were some way to get her interested as it would be great time to spend together. Any idea's? lol

find a scenic, uncrowded golf course just the two of you if possible.... it doesn't say where you are, but it is really a date with your wife.

i would make it a date. It is a date. get up, drive somewhere nice, make the whole golf thing, get cleaned up, go to some local stores to walk about/around, enjoy eachother's company. i think the idea is it is MORE than just golf. it is a nice time/walk/drive/eat/shop/etc.... good luck! (you might want to try 9 holes instead for the big date, that can still be 3 hours including showers, etc...)....

Thanks for the reply, we live in Hawaii and i think i'll give it a try. We have a course here that is sort of empty because it isn't in the greatest shape but decent enough. What makes it so uncrowded is the price to play for what you get, although it'll cost less than $50 for both of us to play. Thanks for the idea and if this won't work, I don't know what will. She has shown a lot of interest in golf but I just need to get her going. Thanks again.

Hello, I suspect for $50 it might be one of the Mil Courses which is a good start. I started by going to a range which had a par 3 right next door. warm Up, chat a bit, show her but don't yak yak too much, let her enjoy swinging. work up a bit of a sweat, go to a par 3 and let 'er have fun. Remeber it's a GAME and she'll become entranced if you treat it as such!

Forget the range.. she's probably not lazy- but bored.

You, my friend, have half the work done for you- first, she likes the game... and if she likes the new clubs - BUY THEM FOR HER!!!

To get her to play, again I refer to the boredom factor, she probably doesn't like seeing the same old place over and over- so mix it up a bit - take her to different courses - and talk about the things you like and don't like about each..

I sure hate seeing the same old sand trap. Need some variety on the course...

Forget the lessons, forget the range-- you'll never hit a "range shot" on the course anyway- get out and play--- maybe she needs it 9-holes at a time?

I found the perfect way to get my wife interested in golf.......SPA Treatments! She goes to the Spa, I play golf. It's perfect! When I go away on golf trips or play a mem-guest that takes me away for a few days, I hand her the Credit Card.

If you have kids, get them interested in the game! honey, I'm taking the kids to the range! perfect!

just my thoughts.......Good Luck!

Couples lessons would probably help. My wife had golf'd years ago with her grandfather and when I started playing she wanted to also. She is the same way that she loves playing when she hits it well but she gets real upset when she doesn't and it kinda throws off my game because I'm more worried about her having fun.

I'm signing us up for a lesson or two and see if a real coach can help her get more better shots and like it more.

Tell her to bring one of her girlfriends along and you'll make a day of it.

Are you talking about golf?

I don't think you can get her interested, but you can make it fun and enjoyable if she IS interested. Prolonged interest will have to come from her.

When I got my daughter into the game, I provided opportunities to practice, play, and compete. I'm glad she caught the fever. It is great to have a family member to play with. But the true interest came from her once she was adequately exposed to all golf has to offer.

Tournaments were what lit the competitive fire, and they are a nice motivation to keep getting sharper. I bet there are some women's leagues in your area that would love to have a new member.

I say get her some lessons as a gift, buy her some golf outfits (that you picked out or a least say you did). The should help and do the Date thing someone mentioned earlier. These guys that say be careful what you wish for or don't do it aren't into their wifes. I love mine and I get enough time with the guys playing golf to enjoy playing with the wife.
