which golf swing method suits me

Recommended Posts

Hello all at Golf MRX.

Hoping to get some help with my golf.I know there are so many swing methods, but im hoping to find one which suits me.I have taken lots of lessons and the info I gt is correct, but I just can't get into these positions in the swing. What I am looking for is a type of method I can use which would suit my swing and just stick to copying that.

Here are my faults.

Little bit too much lateral movement in backswing.

Pulling of the butt of the club in downswing causing the shaft to get steep

Elbows too far from body in swing, no connection

Head goes up at impact like Stenson,Anika.

Irons off the heel, with the odd shank

Driver high right, sometimes low pull.

apart from that quite a nice swing smiley.gif

SWINGS IVE TRIED

stack and tilt - worked great with irons, but after a while stopped working

Jim hardy one plane - too much to think about

swinging the clubbed Ernest jones - Easy to do but probably not suitable for me

MY OWN FEELINGS

I like a swing where I use my shoulders and hips to swings don't like thoughts of where the hands and arms should be.im guessing I need a kind of compact swing idea, but needs to be simple.

Hope someone can help me, many thanks for taking time in reading this.kind regards David

Ernest Jones here. Easy is right. Lost my swing the last 3 weeks. Started tinkering around and found my old swing, which ain't bad. Swinging the club head made the difference. That plus less grip pressure.

Hi David, I have just joined the forum on this site. I read about the problems that you are facing.

My ideas were influenced by Hogan's Five Lessons and Mindy Blake's first attempt to devise a reflex swing. Hogan's method has a few shortcomings. My concept used a lot of ideas of Mindy Blake. The concept is contained in a just published book, The Reflex Convex Swing.

In it you will find the following features that will answers to your problems:

The right foot is turned 20 degrees at address towards the target will hold your right hip and side sturdy. The first move in the downswing is led by the rotational movement of the lower body. This move will drag the upper body and left arm with it. The rotary movement of the lower body will drag the left arm circle with it naturally. There is no need to even to think of the swing plane at all.Again, if the focus is on the rotary movement of the lower body leading the downswing, it will drag the left arm and the left arm will stay close to the chest. The Reflex Convex Swing teaches a connected swing where the components of the body are connected in their natural orientations. The left shoulder push the left shoulder-arm as an integral unit. The movement of the preceding component determines the movement of the succeeding component. The whole swing is driven by the big muscles of the body; there is no focus on the arms and hands. They are there for the ride. The right foot turned 20 degrees at address will ensure that the shoulders need to turn less around the body, leading to a short compact backswing. The Reflex Convex Swing is a simple swing. You should try it. It will solve most of the problems listed by you.I hope my comments are helpful.

Saw a guy on you tube I think, who suggested the following: Set up as you currently do, lift the club with your wrists so the shaft is parallel to the ground, turn your wrists 90 degrees, turn your shoulders until you are close to getting your lead shoulder under your chin. Thats it.

It was a three step move he showed brand new golfers. I tried it and it took me to what my body type can do. I can't get my shaft horizontal. Ain't gonna happen. I have what I have to work with.

I like Hogans 5 ideas as it gives me a place to start. My set up. From there I can tinker with club face to see what the ball will do. To me, its all about getting the ball to do what I want.

Don't care much how it looks
