"Mature" Putter Porn. Flatsticks from years past.

Recommended Posts

I'd like to start off by saying that I was a huge fan of the original putter porn thread. I, like many contributed pics of my mint condition putter.

While I have more clubs than I can count I only have 2 putters that see the coarse. My TP Mills that is posted in the original thread. And an original Scotty newport that has been used, a little abused, refinished several times and still makes putts.

So let's see some flatsticks that have some miles on them. No mint sticks here.

Maybe include a small story of your history with the putter.

Mine is a Scotty cameron Newport. I got this probably 5 years ago. It was raw when I got it so I gave it a custom finish and have been gaming it ever since. It was in the bag last year when I shot a personal best 76. She aint mint. But she sinks putts.

As a collector of 8802 styles I thought I'd add my fave old one to this thread.

An Old Master W802 that has certainly seen many, many greens.

My history with her is only brief. She is in my 8802 "rotation". But that means her outings with me are minimal so far.

Here are some pics of her. The last photo is of her and her sister that I polished up from the same original state. Drop dead gorgeous she is.

Btw, great idea for a thread. I might add some other putters in future :)

Picked this up here on the WRX classifieds. I am a big fan of everything Byron but was not sure what to expect out of the Bombora head shape. I prefer a minimalist looking putter with no lines or dots and this fits the bill. Gave it a go and effectively ended a ridiculous carousel of putters in my bag. Played in a three day tourney early this year in wet and rainy conditions so it has a little rusty "patina" going. It genuinely may be the one.

Unmarked Scotty Cameron 'Private Reserve No.4' Prototype and one of the original boxes. Made for the Japanese market in 1992; 125 of each of the 4 models and this is the only Proto I have ever seen. I included photo of the original signed box for folks that may not have seen or even heard of them - the putter comes in at about 360g headweight and is a great gamer.

It's a shame that I can only like this post once.

So I have a couple of older flat sticks that I could post for this thread, but I figured I should put up my current gamer.

AOP Coranado 2 (originally oilcan)

Found this one in bad shape at a play it again sports a few years ago. It was so abused that even all the love I put into it couldn't get out all the pitting from the large amount of rust. Originally I gun blued it. But since have torched it a couple of times. These photos show the current finish. And as you might be able to see have a bunch of tape on the sole to bring it to 355ish playing weight. Just love me some old carbon.a443486a0ccce5b3fa357301994b06ae.jpgeb8f86205c073a46b91e6230c6c3c932.jpgce9bfe9810f0cd0127ee516557b32aac.jpg07600af829ade7862e4de31f2fa4f2e9.jpg367baffac2aeefb663a778e5f7929a97.jpg

I love this 'old classic' Bettinardi Putter!...I actually own (9) Bettinardi Putters in total, but for some reason this old BBX-81 Blade is the one that works best for me...This has been the one in my bag for over 2-years now...I have a ton of confidence in it!.. :good:

The 'X' Material that Bettinardi used to build the BBX-81 putter definitely produces a softer feel off the face than Bettinardi Stainless Steel or Double Aged Stainless Steel Putters. The latter have more of a 'crisp' feel off the face. I assume Bettinardi's secret 'X' material is some kind of a unique soft brass alloy material, but the color never changes...(doesn't develop any brown patina typically seen with brass and/or manganese bronze finished putters). The BBX-81's 'honeycomb jewelers cut' face is the only part with a bright, shiny, gold finish..

This specific blade design, is close to being center-shafted, and has zero offset. It features 'smooth flow' heel and toe weighting, and I find it easy to align. Best of all, it looks perfect to my eye at address...

At this point, I doubt it will ever leave my bag...I actually love it enough to say that!...

I wanted to add my current backup to the thread. Nothing too special, just a AOP Newport 2 originally oilcan finish had a few imperfections and my OCD couldn't handle that. I added a light coat of gun blue to it. The milling marks on this thing are incredible, (especially in the pocket)I wish I could pick them up on the photos.14f255ce6e2dc9f8d0a031f1347d9f63.jpgfcd4dd613a26086d0b4642be706109c2.jpg

A golf acquaintance of mine is 76 years old...he still uses the putter that his father used. I asked him how old the putter was and he said around 70 years old.

What is it? A picture would be sweet.

Picked this up as a soph in high school in '03 after saving for months to buy an SC and have never owned another putter. Never touched it but paintiflling a few years ago

I've had this for a long time. My older brother bought it new, it was someone else then I bought it. Had it refinished in pro platinum nearly ten years ago I think.
