"Mature" Putter Porn. Flatsticks from years past.

Nothing special, just the Staff version of the 8802, though this was in my bag in '76 when I bought myself the 8802 above for my BDay. Pete gave me this in 1974 and I used it for a few years then in the closet it went. I remember pulling it out and using it a few rounds though I never really warmed to it, nothing like the 8802.

Have a nice evening/day Gals & Gents?

My Bes?

Who is "Pete" Richard? If you don't mind me asking.

Apologies Baz, as I've spoken of him so often that sometimes I forget to use his last name, lol

Sorry

Pete Snead, my Teacher, Mentor and second Father for 32+ years(1974-04/11/2006, the day before my BDay)-

He was Sam's older Bro and the only Teacher that Sam and I ever had-

Sam was probably his best student, lol

Me??

Not so much??

But we had some great times, he introduced me to Madison(and gave me his blessings and permission to ask her out, lol. He was her defactor Father as she never knew her biological father) and he tolerated me and helped my transformation from a young flaming arsehole into a pseudo-Gentleman, lol

And he taught me how to keep my shat together and get off of the course in one piece when my swing went sideways, lol

Have a nice evening?

Richard

This 03 actually replaced my Scotty beached T when I went with the Anser design. Between the carbon and the honeycomb face, this baby is one sweet putter. I don't know that it's old enough to qualify as "mature" though, it's just over a decade old. I actually like the 4* loft as my other sticks are at 2.5-3*

Stay well Gals & Gents?

I had a few Mizzy/Bettis, not because I was that familiar with Betti, cuz I wasn't, however my fondness for Mizzy led to to get a few of these BC's and I still used this 2 when I swapped designs. That insert feels nice.

Great sticks Richard. I posted an early BC1 on here somewhere a while ago and agree with you: Carbon, nice insert, good weight - lots to like about that early collaboration. :-)

Rob

What if I told you it wasn't an insert? Look closer, the Mizuno Bettinardi putters don't have inserts...the middle just has different milling.

Bought a golf bag at 2nd hand shop but could only if I bought the clubs in it, including this Ray Cook B8. Patent pending on the bottom - found reference for the patent submitted in 1965. If true, than it is an golden oldie. Plays just as well as the Spalding putter in my profile picture which is from the mid-80s I think.

Bag 1: 2h: Srixon ZX4h: TM M1 ('17) ; Irons: MD Golf 7i & 9i, Wedges: RTX full face 52o & 58o; Putter: Spalding Pro Flite

Bag 2: 3h: Nickent 3dx; 3i: Cobra One-Length utility; 7i: TM M4; 8/9i: Inesis 500; Wedges: AW: TM RSi (50o); Cleveland RTX full face 54o; RTX 588 60o; Putter: Ping

Apologies for the upside down photos. Forgot to mention this putter is in my bag now.

Thanks! Always good to learn something new. I have just always assumed that the F.I.T. face was indicative of an insert. Actually happy to know it is 100% Carbon. :-)

Here is probably the rarest bird of all. The Frys 'Pity Putter'. "A 1991 model made for Fry's out of pity" (this from Scotty's site and slightly deceptive, as it was not Scotty who made them out of pity for Frys as the wording implies, but rather Frys who gave scotty an initial order out of pity!) in a Black Oxide with 5 point crown and numbered 033 out of 700 pieces made. Nice to have such an early numbered model in reasonable shape for it's age; most of these went to Japan or are rusted out in peoples sheds. What I love about these is the milling on the sole. It is all original with the stepless shaft and no band, as well as the Danny Edwards wrap Royal Grip.
