Struggling with my swing Need some advice

Currently I have 11 handicap but I am struggling with my iron play right now. I am hitting my driver pretty well actually. Please let me know your thoughts I appreciate your feedback.

Not enough backswing hip turn and you desperately need to release your left arm or get your right elbow forward earlier.

So Monte I watched your Hip Turn and Knee Flex-Golf Swing and leading with elbow video and I think I have made some progress. Change does not happen overnight but I do think I made some strides. What are your thoughts?

Definitely better however, you still have an open face coming down and release early. I think you still lift the club outside your hands to much. Focus on matching your face angle to your spine angle when the club is parallel to the ground and the target line on the backswing. This should put you in a better position at impact and not promote an early release.

Backswing hip turn a bit better...but downswing is going to take a while. Your urge is to fire your hips and pin your left arm.

 

Hit an 80 yard 7 iron where you feel no hip turn on the downswing and have your left arm release and your right elbow gets forward to start to downswing.

I totally see what your saying. I looked up impact of Tiger Woods, Bernhard Langer and several others and all of them have there left arm away from body.

they most likely are long and upright. Being 5'6 and with a wrist to floor measurement of 31 they probably do need to be altered. Can a club fitter change the clubs I have now or would I have to get a new set?

I prefer to leave specific swing advice to the experts like Monte but having the correct lie angle is important. If you hit your irons on the heel or toe you will subconsciously adjust your swing to compensate.

 

Adjusting the lie angle shouldn't be a problem for a competent club repair person.

When I first switched to a set of Ping irons about a year ago I was hitting them on the heel so they were too upright causing me to hook the ball. They have a notch on the back of the hosel which makes them easy to bend so I fine tuned them with a vice and a 5 pound sledge hammer.

 

Now my ball flight is pretty much dead straight for short irons and a very slight draw for longer irons but still pretty straight.
