I'm debating getting a 6 hybrid... Am I crazy?

Not that my 6 iron is non-functional, it's just that I'm really enjoying the flight, the consistency/ease of use from my other hybrids. I need a soft-landing ~170-180 yard shot that I can count on.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

EDIT: Just pulled the trigger on a TM RBZ stage II 6 hybrid. Got the shaft shortened by 1 inch to make my hybrids (3 through 6) a consistent 1/2 in length decrease and to better match my 7i. Got it for around ~$40 on second swing in good condition.

Lol, that didn't take long, huh?

I play up to a 6 hybrid and love the thing. If you are someone who hits hybrids well why wouldn't you? I do take some ribbing once in a while but carding a 75 takes some of the sting out haha.

If you're like a lot of guys here and your ego can't handle it, don't get one. If you're comfortable with yourself, good with your other hybrids, and want to shoot lower scores, get one. One of my best clubs. Took some ribbing from my friends at first (is that a 12 wood, etc), but they quickly shut up when you stick it close a few times while they knuckle ball a 6 iron.

No ego here. I just want my ball to go in the cup in fewer strokes - no matter what it looks like. :golfer:

A 6 hybrid it is!

To keep it from being unanimous don't do it.

I tried it and stayed with my 6 iron. Still liked the iron flight better. IMO

I have a tour issue Adams a12 28* ... just haven't got the right shaft in it yet

May just find a Kuro Kage 80x .. or a 90 ... to match the 4 and 5 hybrids

I think I started a 6h thread myself a while back

i wouldn't trade my 28* 6H and 32* 7H for anything...see my sig.

you may also want to consider a 9 wood and 11 wood if you need a higher trajectory and a bit more distance..

i have a 27* 9 wood now which just replaced the 25* 5H in my bag..

I built a 26 degree Adams LSP as a multipurpose chipping club for the courses at Bandon. I love it around the greens at Bandon and more traditional courses. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how well it works for me on full shots. I hit it the same distance as my 5 iron, and I have no shame using it.

I play a 28 PXG Hybrid, this is my 160 club. My irons end at 8. I just play hybrids better. My set includes 19, 22,25,28 PXG and i just started playing a Callaway Big Bertha OS & 7 hybrid. My accuracy/consistency is better. Handicap under 3. All of these hybrids have Oban Revenge shafts. Shot a 69 Saturday night.

If I remember correctly, Dana Quigley (former Champions Tour standout) played hybrids up to his six or 7, and played quite well with them.

I'm keeping both in the bag for gapping purposes. They are built to near identical specs, but I hit the hybrid 10 yards longer consistently. I feel so confident with a hybrid in my hand.

As a 2/3/4/5 hybrid user I keep trying to add a 6 or even a 7h to my bag. I've owned the 2015 Bertha 6 and 7h, Giga Golf 6h, Ping K15 6h, Ping G10 32* and the Cobra TWS and DWS 6h. Never could quite dial in the same accuracy as my 588 Altitude 6i. Distance control was difficult too. One shot 150. The next you'd catch it hot and it would go 1-2 clubs longer than normal.

Funny side story. I sold my higher cap buddy a Ping g10 32* hybrid a few yrs ago. The other day we play and the First hole is a 187 yd par 3. I use my 20* hybrid. He hits this towering draw that ends up pin high. I look over. And he says. This is that club you sold me. I said no that is the Ping 7h I tried buying back from you lol

Keep going back to my Cobra DWS hybrids including the 29* #6 Hybrid.

Hard to beat the trusty ole DWS Cobras. Still have mine in a 3-6 also.

The cobra baffler 6 hybrid is a par 3 machine and a good tee club when you have to play courses palmer designed while on the sauce. I think it's the generation after the DWS but it might be the same. IIRC the baffler 6 is 27*. I've got it in the car to swap in for a specific course (the bridges, if your local to Mississippi - several 200 yards/waste area/170 yards par 4s). Replaces my 5 iron.

Yeah, that is a problem with them and high loft fairways too. It's hard to be confident about distance control. I don't think that hot faces are a great idea on clubs in the middle of a bag. Let's say on any club being used for approach shots. Driver, sure. 3 Wood, sure. Below that, not so sure.
