Odyssey O-Works Red and Black Retail Putters

Recommended Posts

I bought the black 7S and I think it will be in the bag for a long time. Looks great and has incredible feel, but I have one issue. It looks like during manufacturing when they were painting the white Odyssey in the cavity of the putter, they got a drip on the black flat area in the cavity. Obviously can't see it from address but it bothers me.

For anyone who has refinished / painted a putter, if I use something like OOPS or GOOF-OFF to dry to remove the dried drip, will it damage the black finish on the putter at all? I welcome any other suggestions to remove the paint without harming the finish.

Thanks.

Should be a quick clean up with acetone. I don't know what the black paint is though so I don't want to promise anything. I don't think the adhesive removers will do much though, they are specifically formulated to not harm paint so you can use them on all kind of surfaces including cars, walls etc.

Just picked my 3T up from the club builder after he took 1" off the tip of the shaft. Since the 3T has a single bend shaft with about a 2.5" straight section at the tip, the goal was to remove offset and add toe hang. I was a little worried at first that 1" was going to be too much but it turned out perfect. It ended up with about a half shaft offset and about 30-40° of toe hang - close to the same as the 7S. Looks amazing behind the ball. See for yourself:

That came out great! I've never even considered that concept but it does make sense. Hope it's the key for you to making more putts than ever! And is that an original Tour i ball? Loving it.

Thanks! We shall see! My best putting has been when I used a flow neck blade so fingers crossed. Actually, it's even older than that. It's a HX TOUR 56. I still have a couple I use for putting in the living room.

Basically the same thing Cameron has done with the "Justin Thomas Inspired" Futura 5.5 (which is a bunhch of crap... don't get me started on Cameron's schemes). Gives the shaft a much nicer flow than the standard single bend. Nice work!

How did he do that without damaging the coating on the shaft? That guy must be good. Heat will kill that layer of black.

Yeah, he is good. He just took a torch to it and it came off easy. He was even able to save the little plastic ring ferrule. He's one of the best fitters/club repair guys in the state and I take all my clubs to him. He carries miura too so when I'm getting new irons, I'm going to him.

It was an easy fix. If I had the experience with epoxy and not getting it on everything, I'd have done it myself.

But then you could have a cool nickname like "Sticky Fingers Joker"

I'm having the damnedest time trying to figure out which O-Works black to keep, the 7s or the 3T. Both feel great. When I hover them behind the ball at address, it may just be my imagination but I feel like I can hold the 3T steadier. Both get the ball rolling on the line that I choose really well, so the difference in toe hang doesn't seem to be a big deal for my stroke, which I perceive to be a slight arc.

anyone else had the same dilemma?

I ground the putter behind the ball but I can kind of relate to this. I've had a few putter that for whatever reason fell unstable and loopy when I take them back. Sometimes adding weight doesn't even help. I guess the putter is just off balance or wacky for whatever reason. Either way, whether you're imagining it or not, from my experience this can get dangerous and the mind games are next to come.

I got the 2M center shafted O Works putter- I love how this thing sets up to the ball and the insert puts a great roll on the ball. But man that insert is so soft I am having a hard time telling if my putt is even going to make it the distance I want/need sometimes. Does anyone else feel the insert is too soft? I have heavier weights coming as well which I am looking forward to. Going to put two 25 gram weights in.

I had the same reaction. Just a marshmallow feeling that left me with no idea whether I'd left it five feet short or hit it five feet long.

Because I really wanted to give the center shafted a fair trial, I stuck with it and after a dozen or so rounds, I got it dialed in and distance control stopped being an issue. It feels quite good now, off the face, but there was an adjustment period.
