Please stop clipping a towel to your belt

Recently I saw a decent golfer (6cap) in his 30's doing this. It was a dry day and there was no special reason why you needed a towel with you constantly.

 

I can accept on guys 60+ but otherwise I find it annoying and silly looking.

How else do you cover the stain on your pants when you gamble and lose after a night of fine Mexican dining?

There is slow play, maybe music, not repairing ball marks/divots, etc that are valid concerns, but towels on the belt? In the last few years I have not seen this one time.

Is it ok if I clip the towel to my suspenders (without the suspenders my jeans will fall down, then I won't have a pocket for my iron headcover!). ��

• how long was the towel?
  
• what color was the belt?
  
• if he needed a special reason for the towel, would that have made it ok?
  
• cargo shorts or pants?
  
• white socks with dark shoes?
  
• any visible tattoos or piercings?
  
• bluetooth speaker?
  

maybe the towel on the belt was the toothpick on an annoying person club sandwich and just put you over the top.

If it's a tour issue microfibre towel, with a single bottom right logo (not personalised)

AND

it's clipped 3 belt loops over from the buckle: to the left for right handed players, to the right for left handed players

AND

the towel colour serves to properly accent the colour of the player's trousers (no shorts please) but does not match

 

Then and only then, I think it is wholly acceptable.

He has a couple towels clipped to his bag and a red towel that he holds while he pushes his cart. That is hilarious. I can identify with him because my nose tends to run when temperature gets around 50 or lower, especially if it's windy too. I keep a handkerchief in my pocket. You know, a re-usable kleenex...

Played with a NY guy down in Myrtle. Full sized bath towel hanging out of his back pocket .. drove me nuts. How this stayed in place and how it did not distract "Joey" was beyond me

 

FWIW, Joey was a total crap golfer in 10 year old attire (ie pleated shorts) and sort of looked like Stay Puft from Ghostbusters

 

By the way Joey was shocked / flabbergasted, I didn't know who he was because he calls into a sports radio station in NYC all the time. Didn't matter that I live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) ...
