pity cause it's quite interesting to see all those oldies struggle on what looks like a genuine seaside links course currently being buffeted by strong winds..

When they played the Senior Open Championship @ Porthcawl in 2014 -18 won by 13 shots. They same player may win again (Langer) but not with the same score or margin.

....and am also amazed at how corey pavin can get around the course with his swing..

 

it seems that he hits most of shots with half swings but still gets decent distance..

 

and i'm almost sure i saw him hit a taylormade v-steel in one of his second shots..

Two players (one a former PGA Tour winner) barely broke 100 in the 2nd round carding a 94 & 96. Breaking 110-115 might have been a better goal for you. I give them credit in that they signed their cards after their rounds and didn't find a way to DQ/WD.

but still--i was able to maintain a 3 hdcp then as a weekend golfer and averaged 250+ yds drives with balata balls, persimmon clubs and played blades..

 

but yup...i won't be surprised at a 100+ score but i wouldn't be happy either..

I've enjoyed watching it thus far, better weather at weekend will mean more crowds too. I went a few years back at Birkdale and really enjoyed how close you could get to some of my idols as a kid. They're getting on but still can whack a golf ball

i already saw a 65 and fred couples just shot 66 missing a 4ft putt on 18 for birdie..

 

corey pavin is -5 for the day, angel miguel jimenez -7 and tom watson -4 all with 3-6 holes to go.

 

i foresee average score today will be around 70 vs 78 yesterday..

look guys, there is already a thread for discussing the putter issue the plaques the egos of some. There are many other players in this tourney doin well deserving some screen time. Can't think of any :dntknw: as Langer has hit more fairways and greens on reg. than any others :cheesy:

Indeed it is however what I consider more amazing is the final two rounds that Sam shot in the 1979 PGA Quad Cities Open, where he shot his age, 67, on Saturday and bettered it with a 66 on Sunday-
