Why do I hook Mizuno Irons Only????

Mizuno irons are great irons. They also have low bounce. For example, the pitching wedge only has 6* of bounce compared to something like 9 or 11 in the callaway blades. The mizzys typically only go up a degree of bounce at each club, which is a low progression. This isn't bad in and of itself, but its pretty unique to the MP series of clubs. Check out this video:

A snap hook despite really good impact numbers because of the attack angle. The other posters are correct that it is in your head, but it also might be that you are subconsciously changing the attack angle into the ball because you know too steep = very bad with the MP series. The MP series are awesome, but an impact mistake and the leading edge digs immediately.

Its the only thing that is different compared to other, similar clubs. Try a Razr X MB or a Tour Prototype iron. They have significantly more bounce.

Please note this is a guess. Its the only thing that is really unqiue to the MPs.

this explains why I never got along with Mizunos. I tend to be on the steep side. most of my misses tend to be ever so slight fat hits. Not a good combo for MP's

Finding the same thing. Use Callaway X Forged 13's with PXi 6.0's and hit them fine.

Just had Project X Rifle 5.5's installed and took them out for a hit and just fat on most shots. Partly to do with steepness which if some of what the other posters is saying is true explains it but the fat hits were annoying me.

On topic: I found I was making these go left too so your not the only one and wondered what the difference is. Just had my fitter kit them up to my specs and all I did was go left about half way through my bucket once I started swinging normally.

Will have to take both sets and test side by side!

Mizuno iron heads have more magnetism than other manufacturers' heads.

Given this greater magnetism and the fact that you are north of the equator, Mizuno heads will always hook.

The only fix for this is to demagnetize the heads.

But if you are hitting the ball north to south, the Coriolis Force will counteract that and the ball should go straight.

Yes, but I've found that antimagnetism ferrules are often in use unwittingly. This causes a counter-polarization that will have unseemly effects when Coriolis Force comes into play.

Science!

They definitely are 1/4 inch shorter than U.S. standard and that is just one more thing I like about them. It does not make a massive difference but a 37.75 inch 5 iron just feels more controllable to me, especially since it is not uncommon to see other brands creeping up in length in search of distance. I can handle a 38 inch 5 iron, but when they get to 38.25 or 38.5, I notice it.

I have long arms for my height, so the 1/4 inch trim fits me. I love Mizuno irons and I don't hook them at all. If anything they tend to have less offset and I find them easier to fade.

They are in general lower bounce than other irons but they don't seem to dig on me. I like how they move through the ground but you do need to be proficient at keeping your divot ahead of the ball. I look at the front edge of the ball when I swing, not the back, and I find that helps me stay forward through the shot, swing through it, and take divots out in front of the ball.

Mizuno measures with the grip off that's why the specs read 1/4 inch short. With grip on they are the same length as a Titleist.

Not so much counter-polarization as it is sinesoidal depleneration.

The fields don't flip so much as they skip.

I haven't had the hooks with any Mizzys that I've removed the paintfill of.

I don't play Titleist irons, have never cared for them. But even with grip on my Mizunos are shorter than Nike VPC, Srixon 965, Cobra Forged Tec, Wilson FG Tour F5 and Ping i200. Have measured rhem all, with grips on. Talked to a Mizuno rep and he said the claim that their clubs are measured with the grip off is false. Their standard length is 1/4 inch less than U.S. standard and many U.S. OEMs sre making clubs longer than U.S. standard.

FWIW (probably not much) my standard length MP-57s are identical to my standard length Razr X MBs. I'm not sure who your rep is but I don't think Mizzy's are shorter. I could be wrong, but this hasn't been my experience.

This also explains why my cell phone has all its data wiped whenever I use the MPs.

Luckily I was able to demagnetize them by throwing them in a trash can and getting Callys with decent bounce.

I just got back into Mizunos after about 12 years with other club makers. Don't really feel the bias.

Plus on my other clubs, I always hold it at the section where the multi compound grip changes color, meaning there's still about an inch left past the end of my hand.

On my Mizunos I just hold it slightly higher.

I know Mizuno has a Flater lie which really should make it go right but it doesn't.....

I assume you meant 'flatter', yes? If you're not sticking the toe into the ground, you're probably making a flatter swing which could make your clubhead path more in to out. Anyway, it's not a fair comparison if such an essential fitting element is different.
