State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf

I've been a huge TaylorMade fanboy for a long time and have worked away from a lot of their gear recently. I only have a M2 4 wood right now and everything else is other brands. The new irons look delicious and would love to have a chance to get fitted for some sort of combo set to knock out my Titleist combo set. I really want to go to Taylormade because I have a hard time getting fit because fitters don't believe my swing speeds and carry distance and end up fitting me poorly. I'm sick of wasting money on bad fits and want to see how the best do it!

Thanks,

Jason

Current Irons: Mizuno JPX 900 Tour 3 or 4-pw (depending on if I want 5 wood that day or not) w/ nippon 130X

Was I Fit: No, I have been playing some type of blades with DG X100 for as long as I can remember and I wanted something with the same look but a touch more forgiveness and also wanted to try out the Nippon Shafts so when I found a really good deal I jumped on it.

Why I would want to attend: Having never been fit it would be unbelievable to have a fitting with the same experts who fit the greatest players in the world and to go on a "golf" vacation for 3 days with a bunch of golf nerds like me would be something I've wanted to do but am just not able to at this point in my life. It would be a bucket list item and a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Current USGA handicap...9.3

  • What are your current irons and shafts (be specific). Mizuno Grad MP (4-PW) with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shafts (at least that's what I think the shafts are...after 20 years the stickers are a little hard to read!). And if you ask, I will definitely maybe let you test them out.

  • Were you fit for your current irons? If so, where / when? I was fit for these irons 20 years ago as my first set of new clubs. The fitting was done by a jr. pro at a private club in my area. At the time (1997), they were one of the first forged cavity back irons, and I still think they are great sticks.

  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf. While I still enjoy the feel and look of my current irons, we all know technology has vastly improved and my game needs the help. I've tried many of the newer clubs available, and believe the P700 series might be be something special. The opportunity to get fit by true experts would be incredible. I'm especially curious how fitters balance the modern data available from launch monitors with the more intangible "feel" so often associated with forged clubs. Additionally, the chance to learn how forging has changed over time, how the balance between feel and forgiveness is decided on, and how player feedback is used in the design process would be very educational. Lastly, I contributed to the sports section of my high school newspaper; so I think it's reasonably clear my journalistic chops run pretty deep for sharing details of this experience with the GolfWRX community.

  • Were you fit for your current irons? Yes, performance clubworks in Brookfield, CT (5 years ago was put into 2* upright, have played the same specs since)
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf

I'd like this opportunity because I am a forged iron snob. I only play Mizuno MP irons because they are classic in appearance (yes even the MP H4s are compact heel to toe), and they have the best sound/feel in the business (IMO). I have noticed that TM has been stepping up with their forged iron designs lately (although their SGIs are still yuck). The new TM blades and players cavity are classy enough for me to put them in the bag, but I have this completely illogical bias against TM irons except for a few classic designs from the past. Forged irons to me are all about feel and appearance, not so much technical performance as loft for loft they are mostly the same. My review would focus on those two aspects, although obviously any notable performance issues like turf interaction or forgiveness due to blade length etc, would be discussed.

  • Were you fit for your current irons? If so, where / when? I have been playing the same heads for a number of years, and have gone through a number of shafts trying to find the right combination. I went through DG TI S400, PX 6.0, and PXi 6.0 before landing on the nippons.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf: As an equipment nut, and amateur clubmaker I'd love the opportunity to experience how a true professional is fit. A lot of golfers on this site self-fit, I being one of them. However, being a clubmaker I have the ability to really refine my set up a bit beyond the normal tinkerer. I think it'd be great to show how much more someone could get out of a true custom fitting vs. a pseudo self-fit.

This would be an incredible experience and the only way for me to ever have the opportunity to do something like this is by winning a giveaway. I've had many TM drivers and two iron sets in the past. Latest was the R7 TP which I thought were great clubs. The new forged irons are terrific looking. A top notch fitting would be something I have never experienced considering where I live.

Secondly, I'm always fascinated with talking to and working with people that are experts in their fields, so I think that having the opportunity to learn from the team at Taylormade would be amazing. I have been really impressed with the aesthetics of the new Taylormade irons, but have yet to hit them. I am tall and have some lanky arms, so that opportunity to be professionally fit would be a dream. I would also love the opportunity to share the exprience of both the fitting and the long term play of the irons with the community here on GolfWRX. I play irons for at least 2 seasons, and would welcome the opportunity to keep a continuous update going throughout the life of the clubs.

-What are your current irons and shafts (be specific): Nike VR Pro Combo, 3-PW. Dynamic Gold X100, 2* upright.

-Were you fit for your current irons? If so, where / when?: Yes. 2011 at store similar to Golfsmith using Trackman but with a pretty inexperienced fitter. I was originally fitted for the S300 shafts but have been tinkering around lately and the last move was to put in the X100 shafts.

-State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf: After playing a little bit as a kid I picked up the game of golf again after college in 2010 and in 2011 I purchased my current irons (nice upgrade from TopFlight Tour irons). I was fitted for them back then when my handicap was around 15. Since then I've played and practices a lot of golf and my game/swing is a lot different now compared to then. My driver swing speed is around 110-112 on a normal swing and I feel I have outgrown my irons. To get the opportunity to be fitted at the TaylorMade center would be awesome and since I literally live and breath golf and read everything I can about equipment speaking with the TaylorMade representatives would be very interesting. I constantly try to improve and feel that it's definitely time for some new irons. I play a M1 3 wood and TaylorMade is one of the brands' irons I've been looking at and I feel I could be a good advocate for the TM irons.

I would love the opportunity to be a part of this awesome experience! Taylormade woods have always been very good to me. I remember as a juinor gettting my dads hand me down burner bubble driver with the bubble shaft, and hitting the Taylormade Intergel ball. Ever since then I've been a huge fan of Taylormade. These new irons look beautiful and a the feeling of a forged iron golf shot is something that i have become addicted to. The KINGDOM is my mecca as far as golf/ golf fitting experience goes, and ive been trying to figure out a way to get there, but financially it has been out of the question. Id love to represent GolfWRX and Taylormade and share my experience!

I would relish such a unique opportunity. It has been quite a bit since I received my last fitting and my game has certainly advanced since then. Also, I've been extremely pleased with Taylormade's latests products and have seen dramatic improvements in my long game. Pretty cool TaylorMade and Golfwrx. Thank You for this chance

  • Current USGA handicap- I don't have an official handicap but according to my golf app I'm approx. a 9
  • What are your current irons and shafts (be specific)- 2005 Taylor Mad RAC Forged CB's with Modus 130 X-stiff soft stepped once
  • Were you fit for your current irons? - I've never been fit for irons. I just recently was fitted for a new M1 Driver. I had to save up for a year to be able to get it and I had to work hard to not just spend the cash I had on something I picked up off the rack. The fitting process was great.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf- I'm a club junkie but I don't really have the cash to be buy everything I see. I told myself at the beginning of the golf season that I would gradually start to get fit through out my bag. I started with the driver this season and it has truly made a difference in my consistency. I'm a firm believer in getting a good fitting now. I would really like to attend this opportunity as it would be a dream come true to visit The Kingdom, it would be very interesting to see the iron fitting process done by the true professionals, and I would also enjoy sharing my experiences with the Golfwrx community .

Thanks Again,

What are your current irons and shafts (be specific)

Were you fit for your current irons? If so, where / when?

  • No, they were a gift from my wife

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf

  • Although, I would hate for my wife to think I don't love my current irons, which I do, I think the opportunity to get fit for irons would be amazing. I have a shallow/flat golf swing and have naturally guessed with the amount of degrees to bend my irons. As for shafts, I have no idea what iron shaft is best for my swing speed which isn't the fastest. My driver and short game are definitely the strength to my game and much more consistent than my iron game. As for the experience, I grew up no more than 30 minutes north of Carlsbad and have always dreamed of a custom fitting experience at one of the major brands in the area. I have all Taylor Made woods so adding in some fitted TM irons would fit right in.

Thanks,

Marc

  • Were you fit for your current irons? No, been using these specs for years, so just ordered these in the spec I've done in the past.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf . I have several reasons I'd like to be selected beyond the obvious that it's going to be an awesome experience for those chosen. 1. I'm a huge TM Fan and was salivating at each post I've seen of these irons since the first Rory posts were put up. 2. I think my game is a prime candidate for a combo set as my ball striking is above average but probably not good enough for a full set of blades. 3. My friends and golfers in our group in Colorado have looked to me for advice on equipment and I'd love to tell the story of this experience to them as well as to Forum members. 4. I'm starting a personal golf blog and would love to have this as content for it. And Last but not least, In the last 2 years ive really worked on my game going from a High 20's handicap down to an 8.7, and this year starting in spring I made some huge swing changes, going from across the line at the top to way from the inside on the downswing, to more on plane at the top and thus on plane going into impact. So for the first time in a long time I actually think getting fit would make a big difference in my game. Photos attached for reference.

Thanks in advance for your consideration

Were you fit for your current irons? If so, where / when? - Not really, custom built by use of trackman with trial and error, 7-PW Single Length or close , all clubs where taken apart measured , weighed and reassembled

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf - 714's are getting some wear, one of the best performing sets of irons i had where a R9 TP B Stamp Txxxx irons, and the 700 series with the low offset just might be the reincarnation of those B Stamps Txxxx , would be exciting to 1. Be Truly Fit 2. Get a shot at another set of TMAG irons that share some of that R9 DNA

Current USGA handicap- 5

What are your current irons and shafts (be specific) - Callaway Apex w/ recoil 460 f3

Were you fit for your current irons? If so, where / when? - no

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at TaylorMade Golf - I have never had a total fitting by a professional. Always kind of self fit and I would LOVE the opportunity.

I also have no problem writing a review. Used to do it for computers on a popular website.

USGA handy: 11.7

Ping i20 and KBS tour shafts Stiff flex

Fit by local Golfsmith, Towson MD, spring 2012

As a mid handicap golfer, who battles it out on the weekends, an opportunity to be fit and test a forged, players set of clubs would be interesting. Off center hits on a forged iron vs a "more forgiving" iron like by current sticks would be very inferring to see graphically. Anyone lucky enough to win this trip of a lifetime, there is no limit on post count! Only TM club left in the bag is an RBZ tour 4 wood, certainly like to see a war between Ping and TM in this guys bag!
