Rory/Day/DJ will never win another major

You heard it here first, these 3 will never win another major. They all don't have the Will to Win, especially Rory. You can just see it in his eyes. He doesn't want to put in the work to be the best, he is content with just making money and that's it. He can say he wants to win all he wants but I do not believe it for 1 second.

Day has already peaked. He might win a Tour event now and again but will not close out another major. He played the best round of his life in the '15 PGA and barely edged out Spieth who did not have that great of a Sunday and was just playing the last few holes safely so he could capture World #1.

DJ will win a tour event every year but same thing as Rory is that he doesn't have the eye of the tiger. He gives in when it gets too hard for him. He played great at Oakmont I will give him that but if he gets into the thick of it on Sunday again he will not close the door. Wow he cant hit the long ball, great for him. But when it comes down to it he isn't clutch.

I don't fully agree, I think Ror's game is good enough to catch fire once in a while, if the conditions are right and everything. Probably same with Johnson.

The discussion is more interesting when people go out on a limb and make predictions, long as there is some logical argument. So don't mind these punks that try to shout down any opinion they don't agree with. There was a fun thread from back in the day someone predicted that Jordan would be a fluke and be surpassed by the likes of Patrick Cantlay or whatever. Good stuff right. No harm in it whatsoever yet people get so offended it's kind of crazy.

Thank you. The MJ quote maybe was a little overboard. Yes, they have all become complacent. I just don't see the fire from them anymore. Yes, you are right that they will have more majors then you and I ever will and I commend them for that.

Feel free to critique the complacency of JDays -5 today vs Jordan's intense +2.

They don't hand out trophies on Friday. Why don't we all wait until Sunday evening?

What does that have to do with anything? By your previous assertion, you saw no fire in Jason today shooting -5?

Now whether he has the talent any more to maintain his form through 2 more days, is another question, but you're dreaming if you thought he was just going through the motions out there today.

I can go both ways on this. They are all talented enough to win multiple majors. I wouldn't be surprised if they win another or if they don't win another.

I think Day is just having a rough year with his mom and he's just starting to get his form back. He might win this week. My one thing with Day is that he's always hurt or sick. I think he has the most drive to get continue winning.

DJ looked unstoppable and then fell down some stairs and hasn't been the same since. DJ looks like he doesn't care. He's just so even keel that you can't really tell.

I've never been a fan of Rory. He's insanely talented but he doesn't grind. Yeah he just had the top 5 at the open but he was never in contention. I think his switch to Taylormade just proves he's after the money. He's getting payed by Nike and could play whatever he wanted. Playing whatever you want seems to be working for Koepka and some of the other Nike guys.

Golf is a crazy game.

Thank you for the kind words! Really appreciated. That is crazy about that Jordan thread! Yea, I don't understand why others get so upset when somebody says something they do not agree with. I agree with saying the discussion is more interesting with bold predictions. Should I have put in some statistics for this thread? Seems everyone on this site seems to love them. Thank you again! Have a good day tomorrow!

Benno, in my first post I said that Day will not close out another major. In my opinion golfers can not close out majors on Fridays of the tournament. They usually do it on Sundays.

Yes, he played great today but I believe will not close it out

Yes, and then you said he has become complacent. So feel free to expand on that. Cause the JDay I saw today didn't look very complacent to me.

Now I don't think he will win it either, but it won't be because of his complacency.

Love the feedback! I can definitely see where Day is struggling with the situation with his Mother, wish him the best with that. I do agree though that he is always saying he is either sick/hurt. At some point he either needs to take a break from golf or just play through it and stop talking about it. Always seems Rory is in the top 10 but never really contends! I think he was thinking about the money going to TM. His putting his been awful for a long time now and it has not gotten better. If he puts in the work I believe that it should be improving but week after week he putts himself out of contending

You are breaking my heart! Man, I can't face the idea that I'll never see DJ "The Dude" at the presser following a major tournament respond to a question with, "Uh, like, you know, uh, I had an awesome day, uh, like you know, hit like the best shots of uh, like my whole life, ya know." The very idea I won't hear that speech just ruins my dream of future, like, you know, uh Major Tournaments, uh.

He had a good day of golf, in my eyes it doesn't make him un-complacent (I know, not a word). In the majors this year he has a missed cut, a T27 and a T22. He has no victories this year, only 2 top tens this year, both in tournaments that many would consider lower on the PGA Tour totem pole. In 2015 he held the #1 spot for 41 weeks, and finished #3 in the Fedex Cup. Right now is #7 in the world and #52 in Fedex Cup.

So in your eyes, his drop in winning percentage / rankings is due to his complacency?

If he just wanted it more, and tried harder, he would be able to play golf like he did in 2015 more often, and win majors again?

You would have to have experienced a DJ press conference to understand--it's a zen kind of thing. Like hearing him discuss a shot just ties if all together.

Appreciate the hot take my man!

Just because you don't see them running around making the throat slash motion and screaming on every made putt doesn't mean they don't have the will or drive to win. I think this generation of elite tour pros is much different than anything we have seen in the past. Yes, they are friends but they also compete, they quietly thrive to push each other to be better each and every day. Read any background on how they prep, and the physical conditioning they do now and it instantly disproves your theory. If they were content just floundering in mediocrity while still making millions you wouldn't see any of that.

I'm not ready to close the door on them just yet, but I do think you have a point. Who would've guessed after the 1964 Masters that Arnie would never win another major? Or Tom Watson at the '83 Open? Or Hogan at the '53 Open? Or the biggest example, Tiger at Torry Pines? The point is, in retrospect, we recognize these things as historical facts but at the time it would have been crazy to suggest those guys were done. Every player, no matter who they are, has that one major win in their career that turns out to be their last. If Rory never wins another he has still had a remarkable, HOF career. If DJ and Day are done however, I think they vastly underachieved considering their immense talent.

Wob, he was asking me about Day's -5 on Friday. So I just said wait until the tournament is over to see about it. For sure we need to wait some amount of years to see what happens.
