WOW that looks incredible dude. Good job. Do you think I'll get the same results if I use em with the black for a bit then strip?

Looks amazing. I did that exactly same thing to my SM6 jet black wedges. Went with a smoky brushed steel look this time for my SM7's.

I took the chance and ordered the D grind for my 60 instead of the M grind. Hoping hitting those pitches from a tight fairway lie will be a little more forgiving.

I think people really need to try the D first.

The D has MORE bounce than the M. It will resist digging on SOFT fairway lies better, but the trade off is on FIRM tight fairway lies where you risk the club skipping into the ball and skulling it. It is also not nearly as friendly to being opened up on very firm lies. skull city.

Bounce is always a trade off. If you design a wedge to perform better in some ways, it performs worse in others. Always.

Serious pickers that rarely hit fat or take a divot around the greens love the L grind. Just nip it off the tightest lies and lay it open without any issue.

For me, the L would be perfectly worthless. I dig freaking trenches. I’m very steep. Even with a standard M grind I find the bounce is not aggressive enough. I would use a K grind, but it with it’s really wide sole and fairly high bounce it is impossible to lay open on firm lies Or in really firm sand.

This D is somewhere in the middle. Lots of bounce but heavy heel and toe relief. It still won’t be great to lay open on firm lies, but it should be better for me everywhere else. Trade off.

The CLR wont have any effect on the paintfill. This is a SM6 that I did with CLR too. The paintfill was fully intact. I removed it with Klean Strip StripX Stripper.

I just did my three like that after I ordered my 7s, polished them up, couple days later they turned a smoke color and started rusting up real nice.

How did you do it?

I soaked mine in straight CLR for about an hour, pulled them out and cleaned them with a sponge and warm soapy water. That left them with a grayish look. So I took a piece of 220 grit sand paper and polished them up.

They were nice and shiny at that point.

Then I soaked them in a salt water bath for a day. When I pulled them out and rinsed them off again they had a smokey look to them, and they were starting to rust, once it warms back up I'll put them back out in my garage to rust up some more on their own.

This is my fist time stripping, I had Nike engage wedges prior to this. Once Nike dropped out I made the switch to Titleist. I doubt they will rust anywhere near to what my engage wedges rusted out to.

I just stripped them to tool around with them. They will most likely just sit around and probably never get touched again.

Here is what my SM6s look like now

This is exactly what my SM6's looked like after I removed the black with vinegar. It's been a year and they have never rusted, just have a shinier patina look. I love the look of raw wedges not for the rust, but because they don't show the wear marks from bunker, open face shots, or sandy driving ranges. After a few months of use with a Tour Chrome, you can see every scrape and mark the ball has made on the face as well as the marks on the sole.

They look great! Glad I ordered the jet black SM7’s now. Seems like you get the best of both worlds. Going to keep them black for a while and once they start to show a lot of wear, I will strip it off and get the nice Smokey grey raw look!
