New SM7's

Recommended Posts

I look forward to introducing these new SM7's to my Raw Callaway MB 18's.

These were the Jet Black finish.

- Soaked in CLR for a couple of hours

- Wet sand with 220 grit sandpaper

- Polished with steel wool

Bada bing bada boom. Raw.

How did you get raw MBs from Cally?!

Club Champion had 10 sets of heads only for sale. I believe Callaway released 2,000 raw sets, so it was more of the right time and place. The feel very similar to the chrome version, but the just look flat out awesome.

Damn. Beyond jealous. Great snag! Please post some pics of them!

Now that I have my bag set I am going to have to do my own WITB. In the meantime, here are the pictures of the Callaway MB in Raw right when I received them.

I just picked up a 50* F grind, 54* S bring and 60* M grind. Can't wait to be able to get them on the course. Hurry up summer.

Recommendation for a "steep/digger" and "firm" conditions for the 58* loft? I don't find one- according to Titleist's grind definitions- which would suit this need (greenside firm conditions including both square face and opened up for flop shots).

Best wedge shaft I’ve played is the KBS 610 Wedge 125 (S+). Tried others, but when i found this one, it stayed in the bag.

For one who uses KBS Tour 120 stiff in their irons would you also recommend the KBS 610 wedge shaft or stick with the Tour 120s?

Heard Titleist is discontinuing the l grind due to all the tour switching over to the d grind. Anyone else know any more on this?

I play most of my shots around the green with a sqaure face - maybe a tad open if im in the rough and there is some fluff under the ball.. on tight lies (Mostly I play tight lies) I play square shots.

What grind should i use for my 60???? Ive already decided 52 and 56 F grinds as those are mostly for full shots (56 might be a bunker club as well for longer bunker shots)

Im thinking S for the 60 - possibly D - the M ive used in the past and it's not quite forgiving enough for m.e

I haven't heard of any player in the d grind as of now. And you have way too many guys that want low bounce with relief to discontinue the L, especially as long as Spieth is playing it.

I have the 50.08 F, 54.10 S and 58.12 D in brushed steel on the way from DDG. Unfortunately, Titleist doesn't offer the Modus3 Wedge shafts so I ordered mine with PX LZ 6.0s and will be swapping out the shafts I have in my Edel wedges. It's been awhile since I've gamed Vokeys so I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform! I'm hoping to have mine by next weekend :).

Square face and needing more bounce than the M: Sounds like you are spot on for an S grind ;)

The only way to know is to call a Titleist Fitting Center or go to a Demo Day - you just don't know until you hit the ball with your shots.

I haven't heard of any player in the d grind as of now

I think the d grind is based on a custom grind Aaron dill did for a lot of guys

AD grind was more Dill's creation. The D is basically a high bounce M. I have seen almost no one on tour playing it.

Aaron Dill is on video saying that the D grind was the most requested custom grind on tour and that’s why it’s now in the lineup.

Looking closely at WITB on tour you can see a lot of wedges that started with a K grind That had been rounded with an M grind with heel, trail edge and toe relief. I think this is what Dill is referring to with most requested grind on tour. They aren’t stamped D grind per se, but the K / M blend is what gets it there.

Just arrived at the UK National Fitting Centre, looking forward to find out what SM7s I get fitted for.

Ended up with......

52 deg, F grind, 12 bounce, 1/4 inch longer, 1 deg flat

58 deg, K grind, 14 bounce, Std length, 2 deg flat

Both Tour Chrome

Brilliant fitter as well, can’t recommend wedge fitting highly enough.

2 degree gaping between a set gap wedge and another gap wedge seems off. Considering most keep at least 4 between clubs, especially since you only have 2 speciality wedges. Love your grammar :)
