Forgotten Golf Manufacturers

>Sounders are pretty sweet - I have the SB IV 3-SW... The long irons are suberb, mid irons down are solids too.

>Dunlop/Maxfli made a long list of great irons - underrated as all hell, especially - http://golf.dunlop.c..._prm_dp201.html

>Founders 200 series might be the pinnacle of 1990s blades

>Daiwa was a great brand too, now it lives under a pretty fitting name ONOFF (just like my golf swing)

>The TNTs mentioned earlier were the first set I ever used. The gnarliest square grooves ever concieved. There are still a few clubs from that set in my dad's garage.

I came a little late to the party. Hard to think of any more worth mentioning...

I have a set of SBIV blades that I played for a few years. Great sticks.

Will likely list them on the BST for someone looking to give them a new lease on life (and possibly get them refinished)

Great thread, by the way!

Daiwa still makes golf clubs available in Japan check on Rakuten.

FYI

The SBIV blades I mentioned are Sounders.

Here's an image (not mine and I do not own it) from the web:

Porsche design. Saw a set of blades and they were really nice. Actually had a 9* with Brunswick wirld class eagle 7.0 I bought for cheap kicks. Looked like a 975D. I tried 4 hits with it and I think they maybe got 10’ off the ground.

Ram, Lynx, Sonartec, Cubic Balance

I'm not sure if someone has already mentioned this but Lynx are making a comeback. They've recently reformed and are making some seriously good clubs! http://www.lynxgolf.co.uk/

Lynx never left and are making great clubs for ages.

http://www.lynx-golf.jp

Lynx Golf is dead and gone in the USA. It died when Golfsmith did.

Didn't the same company that made (makes?) the Louisville Slugger bats also make some golf clubs for a short time?

Louisville Golf, still around.

yes

Hillerich and Bradsby (mfr. of Louisville Slugger baseball bats) made the Power Bilt line of clubs back in the day. Louisville golf made a lot of the persimmon heads for various companies on a contract basis in the persimmon era, as well as component persimmon heads with their own label.

I was just responding to Louisville Golf still being around. Being from Ky. you really didn't have many options other than Powerbilt when you were a junior. Scotch blades were my first full size set of irons. They were very easy to hit. :swoon:

I think this was already clarified in this thread earlier but I believe that Louisville Golf is not and never has been part of H & B... they are two completely different companies.

I had that Fenwick World Class Eagle 6.0 shaft in a 9* Great Big Bertha (original) at 45.5" long, and it was a FANTASTIC stick. That combo plus Maxfli Revolution 90 golf balls was a magical combination.

I'd buy that shaft again if it were available.
