Tons of reviews on You Tube. Maybe that will help? Personally, it would go with the AP2s. Prefer the look of the AP2s. Hit them head to head? ;)

If you ask titleist to strengthen the lofts on the ap2s, do all the other specs remain the same like bounce?

True i think bounce decreases i forgot about that. I personally like the stronger lofts with all my irons to fit my gaps so this is a deal breaker

I really doubt you will notice the difference re the bounce on the club if you have the lofts strengthened. I think the AP3's have strong lofts anyway.

From what I've seen the AP3 is in their game improvement bracket and the AP2 is in their players club bracket. One is going to give you max distance and forgiveness with some feel, the other is more of an a all rounder, good distance, decent feel and good forgiveness.

Ap2 from me. They look great just like my 714's.

The back of the ap3 Looks really gaudy to me. Not really a fan

If you are not in a hurry to decide and buy. I would wait a couple of months and see what comes out in Asia.

In Asia and specifically Korea the AP1 & AP2 716 are forged irons. Originally in Korea AP1 came in Forged & Cast versions.

I am suspecting the 718 AP1& AP2 will be both be forged in Korea. Given the design of AP3 it appears conducive to being a forged iron, so could possibly be forged in Korea.

The titleist korea website seems to be the only titleist website around the world that hasn't updated to show the new 718 series irons.

So maybe something different could be in the wings!

Ap2 are forged of course and the ap3 are not if that makes a difference. If you want more forgiveness and stronger lofts then Ap3 is the one. Why bend the ap2's and change the bounce that was designed for them?

To those suggesting a combo set I think the 3 degree loft difference makes this not very workable in practice.

Coming from your Srixons, I vote AP3. You'll see more of a performance difference. From 765 to ap2 I think you'll see similar performance in terms of distance, dispersion etc. only thing changing is brand and feel. But if you're looking to buy new clubs solely for the sake of something new go ap2 because they will be more similar to your z765 granted you are liking your srixons.

All this talk about stronger lofts is silly. The AP3 4-GW is basically the 3-PW of ten years ago. I don't like a 43° PW either, that's at least a 9 iron in anyone's book. But the 48°GW means you'll still need a 52° Gap wedge. Do we now call the 52° the Gap Gap wedge?

I guess you'd have to double up/overlap sets eh OP? e.g. AP3 4-6, AP2 6-PW.

Could do that I spose but would not be any good for those with OCD among us. Good to hear from you stranger.

Any truth that the 718 AP2 is more forgiving than the older-model AP1's? Or is this just marketing BS ?

If you look at the MOI measurement from Maltby, the 716 AP2 MOI is 14.1 and the 714 AP1 MOI is 14.17, so they are essentially the same in terms of that measurement of forgiveness. Not sure what the 718 AP2 MOI will be.

Text in the AP-2 section of the article online here: “The MOI is now pretty much at the level of the 714 AP1 irons.” Using the Malty numbers above, sounds like the 716 AP-2 was already there.

The online articles and review videos seem to indicate the AP-3 is way more similar to the AP-1 for forgiveness, distance (lofts), offset and feel while more similar to AP-2 for head shape and cost ... AP-1 in AP-2 package? I guess it's just a matter of what you prioritize highest for your game.

For the first time in a while, I'm pumped to hit the new Titleist irons.

I think a lot of guys are going to be debating between the AP2 and AP3. The lofts on the AP3 are the only thing that I can't wrap my head around. A 43* PW just does not compute. That's what I currently call a 9 iron...

Yep. Remember, the profit margin on Vokey wedges (and Callaway/TM/Ping/etc) is muy bueno. You will continue to see more sets with 43* PW's for this reason alone. $$ And I totally understand that lower CoG's correlate with lower lofts, but wedge sales are what will keep this trend alive and well.

My suggestion, buy 5-GW, and ignore the number on the club. ;)
