I don't know what's more impressive—the massive changes Julian made under Dan's tutelage, or the fact he was a D1 college golfer with his original swing.

If he can play elite golf with his original swing, then by god, I can achieve anything!

**flies off**

Yep, that would be like saying Allen Doyle can't win with his swing! Congrats to iteach & Julian!

Thanks Dave. Very exciting to watch and be a part of. Final score doesn't reflect how tight/stressful it was.

What's your proximity to a student of this caliber for a tourney like this? Are you with him at all during this time?

Not this event. He was just home for 3 weeks where I saw him frequently and he just left last Saturday. So I spent a lot of hours with him in the last 2 weeks. I'm in contact with him daily/almost daily but because he's in Europe I don't travel to events often. I was at The Open Championship with him the entire week. Both times he's come home to practice and grind on it he has either finished 1st or 2nd in the first event he's played back in Europe.

He's played most of the year on the Challenge Tour and less than a year ago was outside the top 1500 in the world rankings and having me fly over there isn't exactly inexpensive. Im guessing I'll be at more events as he plays more in the US. He lives local though and with technology they way it is I don't need to travel to every event every week. He's a hard worker who stays on task.

I wish I'd known you were at the open, i could've kept an eye out for you. Our club was running the practice ground area too.

Great stuff. That's one hell of a change he's made. Did it seem like a gamble to change it so radically? I suppose he wouldn't be where he is today without those changes.

I'm sure he thought it was a gamble before he decided to make changes. I had been teaching his brother for 6 months before he asked for help. But once he decided to commit and make a change he was all in. It got better immediately. He took 6 weeks off to make the initial changes but played in small mini tour events once a week to test the changes in tournament play during his time home. He won most of them and then finished 2nd in his first event back on the European Tour and won 2 weeks later on the Challenge Tour.

Then he came back home for three weeks after the Porsche Open and subsequently won his next event which was 2 weeks ago. He's a very confident person and once he decided to make a change there was no looking back. Has climbed over 1,000 spots in the OWGR since the changes we made. He changed his putting stroke and chipping motion as well.

Before we worked together he would just find a feel or a tweak that worked that week. So he was actually constantly tweaking and changing things. So I actually think with the changes we made there was a plan in place and they were fairly big changes but it was the same plan every week, every day, every swing. It gave him specific task to work on and you can see in his practice swing and preshot routine, he's very deliberate. So having a singular focus actually made things easier obviously physically but also mentally.

Probably because he wasn't there.

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
