2017 Callaway X Forged (2018 Spotted Pics)

The larger size actually would not surprise me as many of the X-Forged irons were larger especially in blade length like the RAZR.

I'm actually a little surprised this iron was not released as the new Apex Pro. I wonder if this means we could expect that the next Apex Pro (assuming the model continues) will be a smaller design than the current model in order to fit between this iron and the MB in the lineup.

ApexMB->Apex Pro-> X-forged->Apex CF

Or, are we going to see the Apex line shrink with the elimination of the Pro model and perhaps a rebranding of the popular Apex CF?

Apex -> X-forged -> rebranded CF

I think this is unlikely given the success of the CF. You wouldn't want to confuse the consumer by eliminating a banner product.

I am really digging these irons. I guess I just don't see where they fit in the lineup yet.

Reports are that this iron is even larger in profile than the current Apex Pro. Do you think the next Apex Pro release will be even bigger?

Good question. I would say that the X Forged 18 is the same size of Apex Pro 16, Apex MB 18 is more like X Forged 13 size. I think in a combo set of the 2 you would hardly notice the difference.

What I am wondering is if Apex Pro 18 doesn't feature the smaller size of Epic Pro with a forged body and Steel cup face? or just leave it as the once piece forged cavity back with a bit more forgiveness than the X Forged....

Can't wait to see side by side comparison pics from anyone who has both the '13 X-forged and '18 X-forged. If possible, address, face, heel to toe and cavity pics would be incredible. Really hoping these are bit longer....heel to toe than the '16 Apex Pros. I felt they were a bit "short."

If the new Apex Pro 18s are chrome finished again, they may be a good pairing with the new Apex MB for a split set.

I finally got to see and hit xforged a couple days ago...I thought they were tremendous upgrade in the looks department (ymmv) I just never liked the looks of the apex pro cf or the original apex pro...I hit them along with the new utility and blade....the xforged forged definitely looked bigger than the blade but thought it felt as good if not better than they blade (my two cents)

The utility looked great but did nothing for me I don't spin it enough to hit it (hit the three iron) I did like the look and feel it was a little louder would be interested in trying a 4 and possibly in graphite...

Size wise didn't do a direct comparison to apex cf pro but thought they were similar size...please feel to ask questions excepts pics...not going to get my rep in trouble although I know they are out there

Under construction....

Thanks Chappy. That makes sense re: the size.

Hard to imagine something feeling better than my current irons tbh but I'll try them out.

Can definitely see myself with an 18 degree UT.

Try them I have hit the j15 cb these I think feel better...I don't have a dog in the fight because I don't play either brand

Under construction....

I play J15CBs...and it's going to quite the feat for the '18 X-Forged to surpass them in feel. Only MP-64,MP-18SC, and 900 Tours are the irons that I can truly say are softer then my J-15s. My CBs give me a little more forgiveness vs the '13 X-Forged... otherwise I would be playing the X- Forged. The '18s sound like a true competitor to the J15 in feel AND forgiveness. Be ready to switch J15CB fans...lol.

I did a comparison with those two models (mmc and xforged) along with some others which will remain nameless not to put any brands down...now the shaft wasn't the same (couldn't change the xforged it was glued in and maybe a reason why it feels a bit better) and not sure what Callaway does to their shafts but I don't normally play a proj x 6.0 its to stiff for me but in this club it feels fine (they have to soft step or something)...anyway I digress out of the ones I tried today I liked how it felt the most...your mileage may vary

They seem to have as large of a footprint as all of the others with slimmer offset and thinner top lines. #1 on my list for new irons.
