Any idea of specs on G400 Max? 460 CC? Draw biased?

460cc. Weight is neutral. Supposed to launch 1.5* higher than stated loft.

Is that because the real loft is 1.5* higher than stated loft? Ping used to do that with all their drivers.

Not a fan of the face graphics, other than that it looks identical to the G400

Nope just the design of the head was what I was told.

Thanks for the pic. Clean!

If that's the SGI/G-Max replacement, sure does look good. Nowhere near the busy looks of the old GMax.

I like where PING is going with their iron designs. Over the past few years, they, along with Mizuno have been releasing some of the best looking (and performing) irons. This bodes well for the i200 and iBlade replacements down the road.

Oh, one other thing...I can see PXG suing PING over this design, just like they did TM.

Guess they need to do something to distract us from the god-awful cringe inducing interview (read: commercial) with Paige Spirinac.

I still have nightmares over that dialogue lol.

My guess is that these are the larger prototype for a smaller hollow design for the i200 replacement. My wish is that the i200 replacement will have the same matching stealth finish as the new wedges. My hope is that my wife doesn't beat me with a frying pan when I drop huge coin on an entire new set.

PXG is full of Ping engineers, what if the G700 is something Ping had been working on but thought the cost point was too high so the engineers who left created it at PXG.

Although this club looks more like the P790 than the PXG. The silver stripe with they branding is almost identical.

Then PING would have held all those PXG patents but they don’t

Still confused on what this is going to be. Some have said it’s not far off from the P790 so that makes it smaller than the G400 correct? But then some have said replacement for the Gmax and not SGI.

Reps state that it is taking the place of the GMax in the lineup.

At least in this picture that sure doesn't look like a SGI type club.

Is Ping betting that you'll play the (G700) in the short irons and the Crossover in the 3-5 irons? Why make a set that looks just like another product that your trying to sell.

Because 1) The Crossover is a driving iron designed for the iBlade/i200 crowd that snap hook the bejesus out of a hybrid and/or find hybrids far too spinney and lack versatility. 2) The Crossover only goes down to a 5i, so it's a weird transition from Crossover that is really long from heel to toe (more blade-like appearance) to go to a short and stubby GI iron.

Having said all of this, this G700 or G400 Max iron or whatever it is called REALLY has my attention now. I like the look of the P790 but find the G400 performs better for me. If I can get a best of both worlds thing going on, Ping is going to seriously hemorrhage my bank account.

Curious what you did here - did you get the G Crossover? Or a 3i of one of the series? I can't hit a hybrid anymore to save my life - totally hook it. I am debating going with the Ping G crossover. I am hesitant to just go 3i.

Thanks

G400 Max is a Driver addition. $435 sounds high for a 460cc driver from PING.

I'm going to guess it'll sell for $399. MSRP and actual selling price for Ping don't always line up.

Our rep said these are a direct replacement for the GMax...but they look better at address than the G400 to me. Just have to wait and see what people think about them in person.

The Stealth wedges look amazing in person. Like others have said on here, they are a little different from the originals and 2.0's. It's definitely for the better.

Any talk of a release date ? Was at club Champion last week and I asked them about these and they say they met with Ping recently and Ping never mentioned a word about them.
