PXG sues Taylor Made

None of us know all the details but I hope PXG sticks it to them. Taylor Made stole the slotted sole idea from the up and coming Adams golf and knowing they were going to have some legal issues bought them out. TM then stripped them of all their technology secrets and let them die. Adams was making solid clubs at the time but did not yet have the assets to fend off Taylor Made's actions. We will never know if Adams would have continued to thrive as a company but I am guessing they might have. Keep in mind TM's acquisition of Adam's uncertainty was also a factor in Chip Brewer leaving for Callaway. Taylor Made successfully stole another companies idea once, they are financially desperate, I think they would do it again if they thought they could get away with it again!

 

This is not a knock on the performance of TM equipment, just their business practices.

 

But PXG are just as bad having stolen so much of their early work from Ping

 

Fact is very few companies truly innovate in golf. It's almost always an old idea re-badged. Take Scotty Cameron, most of his putters are copies of either Ping or Odyssey

It is an interesting move for PXG to sue World Wide Golf shops. They likely cannot intimidate Taylormade but maybe they can intimidate World Wide Golf Shops.

 

Ultimately, I am not sure what it accomplishes. Surely they are not going to sue all the green grass pro shops that carry Taylormade. Are they?

I was into my local golf shop today and was talking about the PXG lawsuit with a few of them and one guy mentioned that PXG is also suing Titleist as well. Anyone know anything about that?

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread with the variety of legal opinions and witty responses.

 

However, this lawsuit against Worldwide Golf Shops seals the deal for me. Bob Parsons is an a**hole. I get the patent protection angle and I'll concede that it's a smart legal/business move to take Taylormade to court. But, attacking retailers? Come on man, like Bob expects every golf corporation in the world to sit and run a patent infringement search before they add it to inventory? Unreal douchebaggery in my opinion.

As expected PXG's request for TRO has been denied. The hearing for a preliminary injunction is scheduled for November.

 

I really have a hard time understanding the logic behind suing World Wide Golf Shops.
