Golf companies do this to each other all the time. Curious to see how this lion/bear fight will go down. If Parsons were smart he would just buy Taylormade

I think it's possibly because he's smart that he doesn't buy TaylorMade!

It might be easier to be profitable long term being a niche high margin MFR as oppose to a volume driven MFR chasing top share

Not a dig at TaylorMade. Just the golf game in the Americas is not so bueno. Targeting high income people only is potentially very smart

Probably because the the P790's perform better than the PXG's for the fraction of the price...

Absolutely. This is great news for Taylormade, now they will get even more publicity for their 790 irons and make them more popular. Sure there will be legal fees etc. But the overall feel of this seems to me like, if you are Taylormade, you are grinning ear to ear right now.

Parsons. What a boob . Rip off pings designers. Use the outer profile of a ping iron. Use a ping sourced tech adapter for woods and fairways ( yes I know it's slightly changed ) . Fill an iron with foam and add some non adjustable screws and call that a "design ". Gtfo ! I hear Danika is out of a job today. Why not cal her up to put her on staff and pay her way into the LPGA if you are looking for a project.

Guys an idiot. This will help TM sell a ton of 790 irons now. Welcome to the golf world parsons. You aren't as big of a dog as you thought. your lunch just got smaller ....

patents. Good lord. That man hasn't had an original idea in his life. Leaching off others brains is his business. And that's called being a parasite.

If what you say is true, which I'm not contesting, Bob has made a boat load of money ripping people off. Is his judgement day approaching?

If it really is infringement, PXG deserves its day in court.

However, it only takes the tiniest change in a design and/or process to defeat a patent infringement claim. TM knows this because they are not newcomers to this competition. They've probably seen plenty of clubs over the years that they felt were quite close to theirs. TM also can show that PXG is hardly the first to put a polymer of some type inside an iron. One could argue PXG copied Nike, and Ping purchased the Nike patents. And anyone who looks at PXG clubs could guess the designers came over from Ping. Round and round it goes.

Parsons did not invent golf club design. What is so groundbreaking about these clubs? So many clubs are very similar, as are golf balls. That's a long way from being a patent violation. I'll be interested to read the suit, but it is on PXG to prove it, and it is far easier to defend a suit like this one.

However, this does draw my eye to these TM irons, not because of the design, but due to the litigation. The lawsuit should boost their sales.

All golf companies have sued one another. Who cares. A judge who isn't an expert in anyway will make a decision from expert testimonies that will contradict both sides.

I'm interested to see how things shake out. I don't have any intention of buying PXG at this time. I've never been a fan of TM irons so I don't really have a dog in the fight.

Meanwhile, some are crucifying Titleist for suing Costco.

They are sueing each other so it's not really the same

I've tested the p790 a few times and they are quite nice, feel, sound and a level of forgiveness you don't get from a players iron yet very workable. They did a great job none the less, I'm on the edge of my seat for sure with this one. Can't wait to see the outcome of what I'm sure will last a while as 2 titans collide. Parsons may have more money as stated but he wouldn't buy out Taylor for the sheer pride of winning vs settling. So definitely interested in what's to come!

TaylorMade has had two foam filled irons the 5 and 11 model. Maybe they should counter sue PXG for copying their idea from decades ago. The 790 looks nothing like the PXG actually rather plain with out the outline of screws. It is a forged club with a forged face, PXG is a forged body without a forged face so no infringement there. Didn't sound like the speedfoam and TPE were the same material. Probably because TaylorMade insulted the TPE compared to speedfoam..

Maybe they can be like Apple and Samsung suing each other for everything on the phones like radius used on corners.

I highly doubt TM will lose, obviously I am not an attorney nor did I practice law, but this just screams Parsons and PXG is just butt hurt.
