Kiawah Island - Golf or Gourmet Escape Package Nov 12 - Mar 3

So I actually messaged Kiawah on Facebook and they got back to me.  They said it has to do with keeping the amount of rounds down on the Ocean Course since the PGA will be coming in the spring.  To me it makes more sense to space tee times farther apart.  Also, what about March and April?  You know they are not going to have have difficulty filling their tee sheet up then.

The good news is that they did say there was a Ocean Course add on option, but did not state how much that was.  I tried to call, but was put to voicemail.  Nobody has called me back yet.

I talked to someone and got the same thing. The rate is $280 I believe they said. I'd imagine in the spring they are going to limit play and shut down at some point all together. See ya next year Kiawah.

It may not be the absolute steal it was before but man, this is stlll an amazing deal. Staying at the Sanctuary for $300 alone is worth it.

Is it as ridiculous as it was before? Nope. But it is still a crazy good deal.

last year the ocean was only an upcharge of 100 making it well worth it.  Did they really up it to a 280 upcharge

It isn't an up charge. It just isn't included in the package this year. You can play the course for 280 (or whatever it was) as that is the rate for the time of the year. So realistically you'd probably have to do the 1 night, 1 round on another course then use the dinner option. Then pay the $280 to play the ocean. I've gone the last 4 years, this is the first time this has happened. It isn't a bad deal to pay $300 a night for the hotel a round at a different course and dinner. Then throw $280 on TOC. Not terrible, but not worth it if you've been taking advantage that past few years.

Just as an FYI -

I've taken advantage of this package four times in the last three years. It is the best deal in golf. Period.

As others have said, all of the resort courses are excellent.

I just booked Feb 19-21 for four of us. We are playing Oak on Friday, Turtle on Saturday, and Ocean on Sunday.

Room and all three rounds of golf were ~$476 each.

Ocean was $253, but the package with the other two courses was only $223 for whatever reason.

I am only paying about $40 more than I expected, since I was already planning on an additional round on the island.

(I expected $300 for the package, and $135 for a Friday round on one of the other courses.)

And the mention of trying to keep # rounds lower on Ocean..??..It was booked solid for Saturday 2/20!

Are they still doing replay rates at the ocean?  Play oak or turtle in the morning and replay at the ocean in the afternoon

Anyone hear if this will be back again this year and will the ocean course be included like previous years before last year?

Usually released first week in October. From what I was told last year, not including the ocean course was a one year thing. Hopefully that is true. Otherwise the deal isn't even worth it since the other courses are just average.

I've been keeping an eye out.  The only disconcerting thing to me at this point is that, in past years, they always had it under the Packages section of their website and said something to the effect of "details still to come on this year's offer."  In contrast, this year, there's no mention of Golf or Gourmet at all.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but coming off the publicity of the PGA Championship and with many still itching to travel, I wonder if they're waiting to see what their bookings look like before deciding whether to bring back the offer.

Called and asked. No golf or gourmet deal this year at all. Glad I went the previous 5 years. The ocean course may never be that price again

Played 3 times on the deal but with walking only and now this my days of visiting Kiawah are probably over.

If the economy tanks maybe they'll revive it in the future.
