Callaway's new Apex MB and X Forged irons

Prefer the looks of the ol X Forged. It will be tough to improve upon that set.

 

I do agree. I'll have to see these in person before making too many judgement's though.

 

The only thing I wish was different is the sole grind. Turf interaction with Callaway's player's irons is great, but some companies have integrated their wedge grinds into their irons, and it has proven to be a worth while endeavor in terms of turf interaction.

 

Lofts are an issue with me though. Yes, the distance gain is fun, but integrating those lofts into a set of players clubs is a bold move. People buying these already hit their PW as far as they want with a couple degrees less, and it's just going to equate in the custom dept being bogged down by bending lofts. I'm not saying that to start a loft jacking argument, I'm just making the point that a lot of people aren't going to be crazy about that portion.

Golfbox has a review up already. This guy is becoming my new favorite reviewer. Keeps it really light. He's probably the best reviewer for WRXers as he has a legit 130 swing speed like most on here. I couldn't resist. In all seriousness. the can move it. I like what he has been doing late where he tries to hit a high and low draws and fades with each club. As for the clubs. They look awesome. I agree that I am not a fan of the 45 deg PW on the CB.

I loved the 2013 x forged. These look great, but those lofts have me scratching my head...

I have an earlier set of MBs I have been using for about 6 months. Mine have 4 additional grooves, 17 total. Any idea what difference that would have over this version?

I'm a big fan of the look of the '17 X-Forged vs. the '13. All the tweaks in all the right places. Not sure I will play these, as I'm an Apex guy but still solid.

I had the opportunity to hit the seven irons in the MB ( chrome ) and new Xforged last evening. Both of them had Project X 6.0 shafts in them.

I loved the feel of both clubs, the MB stood out in the feel department, but I am just not the ball striker I used to be to hit them routinely and don't play enough.

That being said, the XForged feel really good too and they have a very inspiring top line and confidence builder when you look down at them.

It has been a very long time since I swung the Project X shaft ( I have been playing Modus 105 stiffs ) and the feel of the Project X is actually a very nice shaft.

If I had to buy a set of these, it would be in the XForged, they are very nice looking, exude confidence in the profile and they do feel awesome.

If you are a Callaway fan, most will very much like these!

MB look good but I have two sets of protos and a new set of Tommy Armour MB I may reshafting this winter that won't wear out anytime soon so.... Hopefully the new MB will have similar feel to the protos/ razrs.

 

The x-forged are just ugly. Those side by side are like the hot chick who brings along her not so hot friend to make her look even hotter.

I dont want to hype things up but the retail store I work in just recieved 3 models. X-forged, MB and MB raw version. Looks like all our dreams comes true!

Whats crazy is the X-forged has more offset than the Apex pros but very similar to the SH Pros.. Weaker lofts until the PW

I can't get past the Callaway logo, i wish they would hire someone to redo it. Something cleaner simpler that doesn't distract from the lines

I have the same set, they are tour only with the smaller grooves. Result is slightly more spin (couple hundred more RPMs).
