Callaway's new Apex MB and X Forged irons

The raw finish thing is driving me crazy. How is this not a US option? What's the point making it available in Europe? So frustrating.

 

What's frustrating is having to wait another 3 months to get any of those here,

I agree, most of the time we in Europe are late or we don't get all the stuff that's out there. I will definitely test the MB's and X Forged, although I'm not sure if the MB will fit my game.

I am so excited. MB's with lofts bumped +1 with some Aerotech 110 and a Golf Pride Align grip. This is what will be on for this year. I just don't know if I will want a combo set with the X Forged. I love my Apex Pro's and have been very satisfied in their performance. Always ready to put something new in the bag.

SO the xforged have a different bounce for sure, but do we know the difference from the MB? The MB seems perfect and mishits feel better than xforged IMO....

Pre-Ordered the Apex MB 4-PW on OCT 17. Got a notice last night from UPS Apex MB were on their way. Just arrived at the house. These clubs are stunning. Cant wait to hit them this weekend and compare to my old Mizzy MP 4s . Not been a big Callaway fan but man they have delivered once again after putting the Epic SZ Driver and Fairway in play this year.

Do we have an official verdict on the availability of the "Raw" finish? Seems as though there has been some conflicting reports.

 

I guess that depends on the region you are in.

 

A friend of mine is a PGA Pro in Europe and he mentioned to me that they can get the raw finish there.

 

I work at a Callaway account in Australia and it is available here.

 

Just spoke to a Callaway rep in Japan, and he said no raw finish available here. But if it's available in Europe, I can always get a set there next time I'm over in the UK....

Can anyone compare the x forged to iblades yet? Didn't think I'd be in the market but I'm digging these new Callaway's.

X-forged is much softer but doesn't have the spring effect feel off the face like the iblades. I'll know more once my set comes in.

finally saw these in person today... hit the 7 iron MB..... was really impressed... extra nice looking at address.. short lenght heel to toe... nice rouded shape... but thing that got me was how solid and dense they feel..... easily best callaway iron ever made... MB1 is good... but this had that forgiveness plus the better feel...... reminded me alot of MP68 in looks and feel..and thats a HUGE compliment as i feel like thats mizunos best iron ever..

yea...not as marshmellow soft as vega.... but that same thud type sensation.... put it to you this way .... ive hit a bunch of things in testing latey and these are the best by far....

I have to try these. I’m a project x fan and have them in my Apex Pro 16’s. My wallet might be a tad lighter after this weekend.

Nope. I May if I just see someone with a set. But I don't care for the look at all. MP4 and mp5 are much better looking to me.

very similar id say.. i played the razr mb for a summer in 2015 ( i think it was) ....if anything the newMB may be shorter....but id say pretty similar without seeing them side by side

I am not at all a Callaway guy. Their products rarely suit my eye and in the past their marketing has been underpinned by the assumption that the consumer is a booger eating moron (seems to be a bit less offensive lately...).

 

With that, after spending quite a bit of time with these this morning, I am trading in a perfectly good set of AP2s and ordering a combo set of these immediately. Still waffling a bit but most likely 5 in X-Forged and 6-A in MB. The MB is the best feeling club I have ever hit and the X-Forged is pretty good as well. PX 6.0 fits me well so the fixed hosel demo club works great. I have been playing versions of the AP2 for a few years and I was getting more consistent numbers from the MB than the 718 AP2 with a PX 6.0 installed. The difference in feel was dramatic. For those that haven't seen these in person, they appear to have a slightly wider sole than many MB offerings and that may be the difference for me. Also, I was simply getting better (and more consistent) energy transfer with the MB 7i than with the 718 AP2 that led to a few extra yards carry and tighter dispersion. FWIW, last time I had a hdcp it was 4 +/- a stroke so I explore the clubface periodically and my main misses are a bit thin and a bit toward the heel.

 

Great club. Really looking forward to putting them in play.

Interesting that so many guys are raving about the feel on the MBs. Surely they are Endo forged like most of their previous offerings. I wonder if Callaway did anything different acoustically with this design?

Don't know if you an actually change anything about a pure stamped forging to alter acoustics, other than the steel used (i.e. 1018,1020, 1025 carbon, etc.). In addition, I always felt that the Enzo forging were on the clicky side. So, I'm with ya.......I wonder as well.

If you can't get the RAW finish in the states there is no hope for Canada. Hopefully they make them available in the US and Canada. Release the RAW!!!!!!
