M1 440 v Ping G400 LST

Been gaming the M1 since February, got it tuned in properly with a Project X T1100 75g in 6.5 flex for literally ultra low spin bombs. Been hearing great things about the G400 LST, especially the forgiveness aspect and was just curious if anyone has gamed both of these. Looking to get a 75g Synergy Proto in the G400 for reference.

G400 LST is more forgiving but was too fade bias for me. Felt great and loved the matte black

 

M1 440 is certainly longer when hit on the screws as well

 

Stuck with the M1 440 as I dont find it to punishing on mishits and also not as fade bias as the G400 LST for me.

I will try to stay as unbiased as possible, I demoed both, same shafts, lofts and length, the M1 440 was really long, but for my swing a bit erratic, my shot is a baby fade, I hit it everywhere, all long, but not consistently...the G400 LST was almost a mirror performer from my G LST, muted sound and feel was, I have to admit, better...but in terms of overall performance the G400 LST was so much more accurate and consistent that it would be my choice...

I currently bag a mixed set of clubs... Wilson irons and wedges, adams hybrid, TE fairway wood, and a g400 LST.

 

Before settling on the LST i tried a few of the newest crop of drivers, and wanted a 440 really bad based off looks alone. For me the numbers were very similar in BS, carry and total distance. Forgiveness for me was about the same. For the price (if i was buying retail), there's just no way im paying $100 more right now for a 440 (especially with the m3/m4 rumors) over a G400. Only way im spending $100 more for a 440 is if i play an entire TM bag and wanted it all to match (that's just my OCD though)

I hit the M1 440 for most of the year and just recently switched to the G400 LST looking for more forgiveness. Not to steal anyone’s thunder, but I’ve had similar results compared to what others have posted. M1 440 is lower spin across the face, it’s longer on the screws, and looks a little bigger (to my eye, could be the white contrast). The G400 LST is better feeling/sounding, longer off mishits, and more accurate.

 

I ended up with the G400 LST just off of personal preference. I liked the sound and feel better, plus I’m not the worlds greatest ball striker with the driver so i need all the forgiveness i can get. I’m also a high spin player so the LST has brought those numbers down. The only real problem i hade with the M1 440 is that while mishits would stay in the fairway, they were so low spin that some balls would just fall out of the sky. I’ve only ever seen that happen to me with one other driver and that was the Cobra King LTD Pro.

 

You really can’t go wrong either way. Both drivers are fantastic.

Both great. I had a 440. Capable of bombs and looks nice. But very low spin. My misses were too far off and too low spin. I was not reliable with it. Ping G SFT solved it for me; more consistently solid shots. Best summer I had driving the ball in a while. If I change, would be for the G400 SF or standard.

 

I think if I played all the time I could go with the 440. But did not fit my sporadic playing and practice schedule.

Thanks for the feedback, 440 has definitely been one of the longest drivers I've owned, but mishits get punished to the point I'm uncomfortable with it under pressure. I fight a hard draw constantly, but sounds like this is one of the unfortunate cases where I'll actually have got to go hit both side by side. Thanks everyone!

I would go G400 LST just based off your miss being a hard draw. Certainly is more fade bias then the M1 440
