I was lured into subscribing into The Golfers Journal by a guy who gave me a referral code who promised me I would get free Linksoul cash forever if I signed up.  What should I do?  Sue?  Or simply resort to belittling him online or go all the way the physical confrontation?

That guy sounds like the worst!

I emailed the Golfer's Journal to see what is the status of the $200 Linksoul credit.  If the credit has gone away and has not been replaced with anything, then the Premium membership is a lot less attractive.  I like the quarterly magazine itself and last year's yardage book as an annual gift was nice, but I'm not sure if it is a $150 a year nice.

TGJ customer service is solid and always replies quickly. I asked them about the Linksoul credit and they stated:

"Thank you for reaching out! We are not fully taking away the Linksoul cash, however, it will not be $100 like it was before (that was just an added bonus last year). We are releasing the details soon though and will keep you updated!!!"

Beyond the publication, the Linksoul cash is the primary enticement for me.  It's a great periodical, but does not approach a $150 / 4 issues value (questionable even at a $75 /4 value, for that matter).  If I could get away and actually participate in some of the trips / unique rounds they promote, I'm sure that in and of itself would make it worthwhile, but with kid and too much work...  I hope whatever they adjust it to is worthwhile, because I'd like to keep reading, but not for $20-$40/issue.

Agree somewhat, but you also have to include the annual gift in the calculation.  The Linksoul credit gives you more flexibility than the annual gift though since you can choose what you want.  I have not done any of their events yet either, but they have one this fall near me that I might sign up for depending on the details.

Yeah. I almost mentioned that but couldn't quite. The gifts are nice and appreciated, but kind of just fluff, entirely separate from my value equation re a $150 / 4 issue magazine.   I'll probably drop to the $75/year subscription because I do like to support writers and organizations that strive to do things "right," which seem fewer and far between these days.

My TGJ subscription that I've had for 2 years is up for renewal and I'm on the fence about renewing. It is obviously a high quality publication, but only about half of the articles appeal to me, Linksoul clothes are not my style at all so the Linksoul cash has no value to me (you used to be able to use it on Linksoul-logoed Snell balls but it looks like they stopped that), I'm usually 2-3 issues behind in reading it, and the price is the price.

So Was thinking about asking for this for Christmas.   Did the Linksoul Cash go away?   Also, generally what is the annual gift?

Also considering this soon, assuming I sign up now I will get whatever the gift is for next year right?  Did anything replace the linksoul or no?

If you join now, you will receive this year's annual gift which is a Link's and Kings putter headcover and you can choose between blade or mallet style.  They did not directly replace the Linksoul cash which is a bummer, but they do give you an annual $25 in Linksoul cash when you renew and they do offer Golfer's Journal Linksoul discounts and you get a 20% discount to TGJ's merchandise which is mostly Linksoul gear.  The quarterly magazine is still great and you get digital access to all the previous issues.  They've also started to add a lot more events nationwide so your membership allows you to sign up for the events.  Bottom line is that it is still a good deal, but it probably used to be a better deal with the Linksoul cash.  If you decide to sign up, here's a referral code:

Awesome, this was just the info I was looking for.  I can see how it looks expensive for a magazine but I think if you can look at the whole package and plan to use them/ go to the events it's worth it.  I've really gotten back into golf since the pandemic and it seems like a good fit for the type of content I'm into.

I just signed up... Charlie Warzel is writing an article about Chasing Scratch. Should be a ton of fun, and I'm happy to support a magazine that supports him.

The Golfer's Journal has a solid schedule of events for 2022 this year:

https://www.golfersjournal.com/tgj-events/

The event at Mid Pines, NC in April sold out in a couple of minutes so they added as second Mid Pines event in October.  I'm going to try to play in a couple that are driving distance from me.  You need to be a subscriber / member of TGJ to sign up for the events.  If you're interested in TGJ, please use the referral code for extra swag:
