My Monday league does a closest to the pin on the par 3's and the payouts are about $50-$60 for each hole. I am the lowest h/c golfer in our league and have played in the league for 5 years so you would think I would have won a few more than the two holes that I have won. I am in a current drought of more than 3 years. Last night we cancelled due to rain, but a few of us went out to squeeze in a few holes before the heavy stuff started coming down. I present to you the 2 par 3's I played last night (when there was no money on the line)!

My goal this year was to shoot par. I've shot +3 twice in my life, once last year and another time a month ago. Last night I made 5 terrific birdies and shot an even par 72(36-36) from 6500 tees. I could not be more happy. 3 years ago this seemed like an impossible task. Last night also tied a person best of 5 birdies of better in a round. KILLED IT :)

Reached a major milestone today. I set a very ambitious goal about 1 1/2 years ago (roughly scratch at the time) of lowering my handicap index to +2. Current index as of today is +2.1. Never thought I really had a chance. Finished birdie-birdie yesterday to shoot 72 from the white tees to seal the deal. Lowest my index has ever been. Not too bad for an old fat lady.

Last Thursday, while playing with an old friend I hit the most sublime 9 iron on our #6, playing just over 135 to the pin. It was a sight to behold, just so towering, the ball landed, took one hop & stopped on the sliver of the green normally reserved for Sunday pins.

Now the fact that the pin was a good 45 feet to the right doesn't matter, nor does the three putt that followed. It was a pro caliber shot if I ever made one.

I hit a fairway once...beautiful baby draw carried over 375.. only problem was I was 2 fairways left of the right one

I didn't murder the group of seniors in front of me today. Were they playing painfully slow? Of course. Did they even consider letting my group play through? Of course not.

Went eagle-birdie on #16 and #17 last weekend. Still didn't sniff 80 though.

#16 my low hard hooking drive came to rest on some winter kill hard pan bare dirt. I pured a 4I from there to within 3 feet. All pure luck. I'll take luck.

#17 laid back with a hybrid on a short par four with a bunker in front short of the green about 35 yards. Wedge to within 6' and made the putt.

Proceeded to make a 6 on 18. Back on track.

Reached a major milestone today. I set a very ambitious goal about 1 1/2 years ago (roughly scratch at the time) of lowering my handicap index to +2. Current index as of today is +2.1. Congrats TP! You're obviously playing great, consistently!

Thanks. I am playing better than ever. Just solid ball striking and short game. When the putter heats up I go under par. It's a nice feeling.

Are you playing any tournaments? IIRC, there was an event before you moved to TX that didn't have the outcome you wanted.

Actually played a couple of tournaments last summer. Got 2nd in one and won the other. My win felt bad because I played poorly and needed a playoff to win. Won my first TX senior womens tournament in May (match play). Played in a state stroke play against the kids and tied for 20th (overheated playing 36 the first day and fell apart in the final round). So playing a few tourneys and doing OK.

  • 2 weeks later...

A few weeks ago a friend asked me to play in a 4 man work scramble, I was the low handicap of our group at a 7, but I excel at best ball cause about 75% of my shots are legit good, and the other 25% just end up costing me a lot of shots.

Anyways, we ended up tying for first, so my best ball record for the year is 4 1st place (3 of them ties), and one 2nd.

I also got the long drive that day, the guys in my group were claiming I was 60 yards past where the marker was previously (I would say it was less then 60 though). So we had about 145 into a par 5 from there, I put the ball to about 15 feet and we made the eagle.

It wasn't even my longest drive of the day either :busted_cop:

I'm not much for bragging, but glad my new driver is paying itself off a little with winnings, lol

I am currently going into the second round of our mun, tied for second. I was the clubhouse leader earlier. Such a surreal moment for me as I have tried joining this muni 3 times and qualified only once because the supposed guy who was the last among the top 10 could not make it. So in a way I was not really even going to make it to the grand finals.

I shot an unbelievable 1 over par yesterday and I am currently sitting at a 10 handicap right now.

Shot Even par in league last night with a 35. round included 3 birdies a double bogey and a bogey. Hit 2 gps measured drives of 312 and 325! I am 52 years young so I guess that is pretty good?! Absolutly loving my (new to me) Ping g LS Tec driver!

I played 9 holes yesterday. Was practicing putting in my house before and ran off without my putter. I shot 39 (11 h’cap) with two chip-ins for par, and made birdie on 8 with a wedge putt.

My 2nd chip-in made me feel like Phil for a brief second: I duffed my tee shot short left in the rough on the upslope of a mound. I fluffed the first chip, left it in the first cut about a pace from the putting surface (it was a pretty straightforward shot playing about 8-10 inches of break, probably would have putted it if I’d had my putter). When the second chip went in, it was about the best feeling I’ve ever had in golf aside from my two eagles. Probably the best par I’ve ever made, top 3 at the very least.

Also made no double bogeys - always a good 9 hole accomplishment for me!

Bought a Hoofer and put my Clicgear in storage...........Funny thing is I waited until I turned 40 to buy a pushcart and have used it since but went on a trip to Bandon last fall and loved a carry bag on my back with a lot less crap in my bag. Brought back a lot of memories carrying and no at 51 I am going back to a carry bag. Most of my rounds are in a cart however but I still prefer walking and do so on certain courses.......
