Hickory stick has a good deal going offering a "membership" for two years for $99. You only pay $20 to ride 18 on the weekdays and $30 to ride 18 on the weekends. Both deals are good after 10 am.

I called yesterday to ask about walking they said it was the same price walk/ride, so if your in the area and wanting to play hickory stick its a solid deal.

Great time at bear slide today gentleman. Course was in solid shape for December. Greens always roll true and sand was in great shape.

Kudo's to the Bear Slide staff all around. Despite it being December (off season), inside staff was friendly/accommodating and the grounds crew had the place in great shape, even blowing leaves off the course for the 9 people they had tee times for.

Great time with a great group on a great course.

Looking ahead (because Golf in the near future does not look promising) I am looking forward to our annual winter round at pleasant run. It is usually in February and it is impossible to predict Indiana winters, but I wanted to but the word out early. I think we’ve had 7 or go guys the last two years, but they have always been a blast.

I am looking at possibly hosting a golf outing in 2020 to help grow our Indy WRX group. I am thinking the new course in Bloomington would be a sweet location. I am looking on some feedback for interest, date, and if the IU course would be a desirable location?

Question of the day...what is your favorite 9 in town? This could be the front or the back of any course going.

My favorite 9's in town are the following:

Very cool.

That being said, I have always viewed the GolfAdvisor list as being locals rating the course compared to the other courses they are used to playing. This is in contrast to the Top 100 you can play list, which is professional golf course critics. So when a course rates high in the GolfAvisor List, it is usually the best muni, semi-private or resort in the region, with a little bit of a value calculation thrown in. No doubt Chariot Run is one of the best public courses in Indiana and the surrounding area. Is it top 5 in the country? Above the Dye course in French Lick? Not in my mind. This is best illustrated to me in the fact that Royal Highlands (a course I enjoy and often drive out to play) is ranked No. 23, one spot about Wickenburg Ranch in Arizona, which is probably the best conditioned golf course I have ever played in my life. However, since it is out there next to all of the other quality golf in Arizona it simply doesn't stand out quite the same. The nicest course near Royal Highlands is likely the Fort, some 30-40 miles away.

I absolutely don't mean to poo poo the list, I use it regularly to find great places to play when I travel that aren't your standard $250-$400 tourist trap, but I say that only to explain why some Indiana courses are rated so high, they provide great golf for a great value.

Bill I completely agree. I feel like Golf Advisor is the everyday player or working man assessment list for golf courses. I love finding hidden gems and writing reviews of courses that I get the privilege to play. It has opened me up to several great courses even here in Indy. that I wouldn't have other wise played and had a wonderful time. Buffer park and hickory stick being the two that immediately come to mind. Both are in my top 10 favorites to play in town list and I got exposure to play from golf advisor.

Question of the week: Simply put what are you top three favorite courses around Indy to play? these don't have to be the best or nicest just your favorite to play.

It is the off season, and I already going stir crazy thinking about getting back out and playing. My goal over the next 3-4 months is to grow this thread. We have well over 20,000 views and only 700ish comments. We are getting good traffic but poor input and virtually no new posters. We have a group of around 10 guys that play around town on a fairly weekly basis when someone can get out. Its always a good time, and I are willing to travel around the state a few times a year to play. Several other members are willing to do the same. If anyone has thread topics, ideas, questions, events etc please feel free to share. I want to grow Indy golf!

Discussion topic for the day: What clubs do you Chili Dippers have in your bags?

Mine: G400 max driver, Bio cell 3 wood, f6 baffler, 765 4-A irons (thanks 54putts), rtx-3 58* wedge, 2 ball putter, all in a camo hoofer (thanks indygolfer85).
