Too much weather/conditioning risk? Time works out great for my wife and I to take a trip for a few nights. It looks like maybe they don't actually open until Mid-May so I wonder if its just too much of a risk.

Rates from May 15-30 are significantly lower which makes me wonder if there's a reason why.

Looking at past weather averages though, it doesn't look awful.

Take a look at historical averages for April ;)

I'm not sure how much time a course needs to get up to snuff after a cold and potentially snowy month; however, I assume May is about getting it into shape for July to Sept peak season.

If I lived locally I'd jump on a last minute weekend trip if it'd been a mild winter, but IMHO if I am planning a trip well in advance to an awesome spot like that I am taking the end of Sept/Oct shoulder season over spring.

Somewhat more likely to have rain than into mid June or later.

Course condition depends a lot on how hard the winter is. Some years courses through the province are in great shape by late May some years it takes into July.

I went at the end of May last year. I had all types of weather, first day was cool because of the breeze and overcast, had 2 days of sun and wind but great. Definitely can’t beat the price at that time of year. I am going again this year but first week of June.

Conditions were great. Cliffs was a bit fuzzy but it’s still young and couldn’t risk cutting. That said everything thing rolled very true just a bit slow.

I know they were trying to tarp the greens this year, so hopefully the greens are mint in the spring.

Most courses in Nova Scotia open mid April, depending on how harsh the winter is. The grass will be in good shape by late May. Weather will be hit or miss that time of year. Expect 12-18C during the days.

These guys summed it up well, it’s hit or miss that time of year. But always remember, in Nova Scotia if you don’t like the weather, just wait 15 minutes :)

Bring your toques and mittains just in case. And Rain gear! I played it June 1/2 a few years ago and both days were around 10 degrees (celcius) and one day had zero wind and the second day may have been the windiest day I have ever played in.

It is a true links experience and the service at the resort is first class!!

Both courses are really good. Cliffs is easier, and more spectacular holes. Links could host a tour event.

Don't expect fast greens, and if the wind gets up, you don't want them too fast or else the ball would never stop.

I have a tournament there May 21-22, so i'll be in the same boat as you gambling on the weather. But it is only a 6 hour drive for me.
