Just noticed the ZU85s in the bag vice the ZX7 4-6 irons.  What drove the change?

 

I was originally going to replace my ZX5 6i with a ZX7 because it goes a bit too far for my current gapping.  However, as it’s warming and my swing is coming into shape the new lead COA is ditch the 26 deg hybrid and replace it with a ZX5 or ZXU at 23/24 degrees.

 

Very happy with the hybrid and I hit it on a beautiful trajectory for my swingspeed but want to tighten up the azimuth a touch.  I don’t mind the 21/22 degree hybrid being a bit of an area weapon but expect things to be a little tighter from shorter range.

I love the zx7 but picked these up for a song when south and have put new shafts in them since getting home

 

the zu will likely replace my beloved 5h.  I played in crazy heavy wind in Myrtle my last week and this 26* club was awesome from all sorts of lies and unbelievable on into the wind shots.

 

also easy to launch high

 

Multiple times I had 185 ish into a 25-30 yard wind and the 26* ZU got me home.  My 5i on similar days at other courses would come up 15 yards short ... barely going 170.  @BIG STU can attest to the wind level that week in March

 

29* ,,, weather needs to warm up for further testing, shootout against 6i, will be tough as I love the ad di 105x

Believe this or not--- Right here in Garden City Beach SC Frost warning tonight no April Fool Joke. Last Friday night I was running one of my little window unit ACs to sleep cool. Right now the furnace just came on. Looked out back and my Azelas are blooming hope this does not kill them.

I’ve lived most of my adult life near the coast so I get it.  Above is exactly what I need.

 

My ZX5 6i is 27 degrees so I think I’ll add a ZU85/ZX-Utility 4i at 23 deg.

 

Any particular reason you picked AD-DI vice Modus 120 for the 6i replacement?  I’ve got a spare AD-DI hybrid shaft I could install but will probably start with Modus 105.

I just have a ton of spare shafts, including hybrid and DI’s, if that doesn’t work will try something else .... and I don’t want to dismantle my zx7

Changes in sig below

 

went to all graphite in the irons again, really really loving the Catalyst shafts in my ZX7’s, 15 GIR recently

 

7w is my new favorite club, 230 on a high frozen rope ... after moving my 5w shaft to the 7w head

 

big change with driver, Sim Max gen 1, with an old favorite tour issued shaft of mine.  Playing D9 at 46” and it never goes left, great feel on pure strikes almost like the OG Rapture.  Funny I think this driver is very loft and shaft specific, my 10.5 is clicked twice higher ... and last year I hated the head the first time I had it with the ad di 6x in it.  The 53x Blueboard beat out the green smoke 70x (2 blocks per round)

 

in side by side testing against my beloved g400 max ... on course, not on Trackman, ...  it is 20 plus yards longer and sometimes more ... saw this 6 times in a row last week in one round.  Shocked me actually.

 

18 today at my second home club is 530 hugging the top edge of an old quarry hard to the left,  today I had 190 in.  Hook it and you are 3 off the tee.  It was downfan 25kmh, but in 7 years I’ve never been that far down the fairway (swinging 110mph again thanks to max swing speed).  In testing Thursday I had 214 in with my SIM and 238 with my g400 .. both on nutted, corked, mangled drives

 

Limited bag debates right now (from extras on hand) are

- using PM grind 64*,

- putting Blueboard 63x in my 5w,

- putting 29* ZU85 in place of 6i ... maybe with ADDI 105x

 

three potential changes is low for me fwiw

Sounds good I have had to make the change to graphite myself. LOL Dug out my old V-Steel 7 wood some months ago and yes it is in my bag

Well I had to pick this up today … I thought I’d gone old school with my recent grabbing of a pair of 2016 TMade m2 drivers … but this beast is 2007.

 

my goodness … I forgot how good the feel was on these bad boys … baby pipeline fades all day … and looooong

 

the best part … I paid $39

Yep I think so.  Of course I am sorta biased I have known and done business with Will for many years and he is a good guy. Has both new and used stuff and will wheel and deal----- I am down on the South End in Garden City. Cardy is in and out of the area a few times a year and I have yet to meet him face to face

Sure I will play, have a course you prefer up there?

 

I have a trail card, most of the courses are in the North End

 

So far on this trip I have been playing Wachesaw East, Prestwick, Litchfield CC, and I got out to Caledonia once

 

My nephew and his three D2 golf teammates are down here right now … and we may do Shaftsbury today 

 

I think I am here for 4 or 5 more days and then back thru around New Year’s and mid April

Well would like to get up with you before you leave this time----- Was going to play at Indigo this morning but it was cold and they had a frost delay and wanted everyone in by noon. Decided not to chance it with my back and I do not like ultimatum deadlines anyhow. When you were at Waccheasu East you were about a mile from the house

Picked up a sim2max 10.5 yesterday with a tensei  blue 60x in it ….

 

Hard to find in X for sure

 

My only question is that in the fall the driver I was killing was the buddies 9* max2 D head .. turned up to 11* … you can aim right and hit bombs and never worry about the push block miss (which is why I dumped my OG sim max)

 

he had velocore blue in it as well of course

 

ANYONE ROCKING THE D head, love it ???? I could go to another PGA Superstore and flip heads ….
