Mr. Heater tip over switch fix.

I wrote to Mr. Heater about the golf heater shutting off at the slightest movement of the golf cart, this is what they wrote back.

 

“Hi J,

 

This is Vivian in Technical Services. No I don’t think you’re using the heater wrong. It just so happens that this heater has a very sensitive tip over switch (for your protection) and sometimes that will happen where the slightest movement will shut it off.

 

Thanks,”.

 

I got frustrated and took the thing apart and fixed it. It’s simple fix.

 

Note: 4 larger screws are on the silver grill and 4 smaller screws are for the frame. There is two larger screws under the Mr. Heater sticker on the side.

Awesome! I did the same, but just taped down the cut off switch. Wasn’t really usable with the sensitivity of the roller ball.

This may be somewhat simplistic but could you not just take the ball out that trips the shut off switch?

The pictures are really good, and I liked the fact that it was a simple fix. But . . . . what exactly did you do? Pardon me for sounding stupid . . . I've assembled IKEA stuff. lol

 

Also, yah, why not just remove the ball.

When the heater is upright, the ball sits on the switch that completes the circuit. When it tips, the ball moves and separates the circuit. If you remove the ball, the circuit is not complete.

 

Easiest solution is to remove the ball, and tape down the switch. Or, cleanser solution is to remove the failover entirely and connect the wires as depicted.

Norboo, or anyone, I have my Hr Heater propane heater apart except I cannot seem to get the side with the red on switch off. (does the red switch pop off?) Do you have a picture of the tip over switch or set of pics I can use to fix mine like you did yours? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't recall.  I ended up throwing my Mr. Heater.  I am using the older Coleman golf heater.   So much better.

How much "older" is this Coleman golf heater? I've been looking at a few, but not sure which model to get. Is the new one garbage compared to the "older" models?

Mr. Heater to me was crap.  It doesn't stay lite even in a slight breeze. 

I bought used golfcat by Coleman for around $60 during the summer months on eBay.  Trying to buy one in the winter is costly.
