So if the z star is the same price as qst, who would buy qst?

Someone with a slower swing speed or someone who likes the softer feel?

Exactly. After much introspection and soul-searching, I have come to the conclusion that I am better off with lower compression golf balls.

The swing speed delimiter has got to be a myth.

Softer feel, I say sure on that one.

Although the z star isn't crazy firm, if u like softer, I get it.

The z star is just such a good ball, and the q star is kinda meh, that without the price difference... I don't get it..

surely not anyone with good common sense. The Z star is so much better than the Q star tour it's silly. I found the Q star tour being very inconsistent on distance.

Given the same conditions, what do you suppose would make the same ball travel a inconsistent distances other than different swings or contact?

I think it’s possible that different people have different preferences and different performance. Your same question could be asked by someone playing a Z-star XV: why would anyone play a Z-star when they could play a Z-star XV?

Exactly. But I wonder, is there a quality control difference between the two? Q-star Tours are nearing the “value” price point and are made in Indonesia. Where are Z-stars made?

Maybe Srixon decided that he customer for the Q-star tour wouldn’t actually be able to discern differences from a slight variation in quality control.

If price is in the mix, you definitely don't need to justify the Q vs Z. But for $20 across the board, Z all day long.

What about the discernable differences? The extra layer of core adds a refinement and another wrinkle for distance and spin. It's a superior product.

You can say you like select beef better than choice or prime if you don't care for fatty steaks, and for a ribeye I'd go along with you, but for a strip or filet, that preference is less understandable.

I can't speak for anyone, but just want to throw some facts into the wind. The differences between the compression on the Q-Star Tour(75) and Z star are less than the compression difference between the Z-Star(88) and XV(105). Both the Q-Star Tour and the Z Star are 3 piece urethane balls. The XV is a 4 piece. What that means from a technical perspective and what that means to each player is beyond my expertise. Just thought I'd throw those stats out there. I assumed the Q-Star Tour would have a lower compression for some reason. From what I've read, core compression does NOT influence short game feel. The thickness of the outer cover will determine that.

edit: just to add, IMO the Q-Star tour is exactly what the Titleist Tour Soft should have been. A mid priced, soft compression urethane ball. But what the F*** do I know

Our Golf Balls are always under $20/dozen. Free US Shipping if you're buying bulk. If you're in Canada, we've had people order and deliver to a US Post Office and drive down and collect. Typically no Sales Tax if you're outside of CA.

The QST seemed to fly a little straighter than the Z-Star . Of course that comes with the trade off of less spin and workability into the greens. QST has value just like the B330-RX and AVX , just much more affordable. Also they were $15 a dozen at my local shop when the Z’s were $20
